ANIMEBRYAN'S PROFILE

I had to "Old Yeller" my old laptop, a laptop that has given me a decade of entertainment, became the ultimate retro console thanks to emulators, and has allowed me to pursue my dream of being a game designer with both RPG Maker & SMBX. Now, ALL of that work, is gone. This is not how my 40th birthday should be. I am dead inside now. I just don't give a shit about anything anymore ;_;

SRW2 Beta is Here!

That 'Top Secret stuff you told no one about', is it in the current beta or is it something you plan on adding to the final version?

SRW2 Beta is Here!

I can't believe anyone would complain about that flower in General Fly Guy's Air Force when there's a Blue Yoshi to break the level with! The whole level is ridiculously easy once you get that Yoshi & either a Para-troopa shell or SMB2 Bomb in his mouth!

And this statement by Isrieri: "There's nothing wrong with levels and flowers where you just run straight into them and get them all effortlessly, but the ones that are way out of the way or a require a special trick that is too convoluted to execute take some of the fun out of it." is absolutely wrong! Considering how game-breaking some of the star rewards are (Lakitu's Shoe), I can't believe some of you don't realize why you should EARN those flowers!

Even though I got all 455 flowers in my beta test (found the last one after I finished the game in 'Princess Etiquette'), I can't remember which ones gave me a hard time, but considering how I broke most of the late levels with Lakitu's Shoe & even my own 'Fire & Brimstone' level with Podoboo's Shoe, I have no complaints about how hard some of those flowers were.

How many different ways are there to obtain flowers?
Here are some methods I came up with:

1 - Place them somewhere high that requires a; Yoshi/enemy Boost, Flying, etc.

2 - Place them behind some colored ! blocks that require a switch to access.

3 - Place them under some SMB3 bricks that require Purple Yoshi's Ground-pound to get to.

4 - Place them behind some solid blocks on a layer that requires the player to defeat a group of enemies to access (Burt the Unabashed's Fort for example).

5 - Collect red coins which would remove a barrier to access a flower

That's all I can come up with for now.

It seem like everyone's expectations are too high & they're not realizing how bad the limitations of the engine actually are. You can only do so much with this old version of SMBX in regards to layers & collecting stuff. At least SMBX 1.4 has Star Coins as collectables & handles them better than the dragon coins in 1.3.

Finally, my final Beta Test video:

SRW2 Beta is Here!

Here's Parts 8 & 9. Part 10 is stuck uploading at 79% (internet connection crapped out again):

If the internet connection in my computer lab fixes itself overnight, I may be able to publish it on Youtube by tomorrow, IF I can use another WiFi session. Also, I found the last star. Seems I walked away from 'Princess Etiquette' without it's star, without even realizing it. Really should make a way to check for those.

I knew you would set it up that way when you said that Neutral Nexus island was going to be in the center of the archipelago. Brain Drain Island & Neutral Nexus Island don't look very impressive though. I was expecting them to look more like their themes, Brain Drain being mechanical looking & Neutral Nexus to look more like a 'Nexus' (spacey, warp/black hole styled). It's a shame you didn't include Super Star Island & Bonus Bonanza in the pic.

Finally got 3 more uploaded:

Still having problems with internet connection in my computer lab. I'm using a 1-hr wifi session right now just to post this. Hopefully Comcast will come out to fix the issue & then I can get Parts 8-10 uploaded tomorrow.

SRW2 Beta is Here!

Here's my first 4 parts of my beta test. I've completed the game but only have 99 stars, can't seem to find that last star.:

I would have more uploaded if every force of nature wasn't trying to stop me from uploading (Lab computer reset to 'restore point', some dumb bitch closing my browser tab while uploading overnight, internet connection crapping out, etc.)

@Isrieri: You sound like you haven't gotten all the flowers on SMW2:YI. Because in that game getting all the flowers wasn't always fun. Some are ridiculously easy to get, some took a bit of effort to get & some were just downright difficult to get. This game isn't that much different.

I kind of just want to get to World 9 as fast as I can
This mentality won't do you any favors. This isn't a game that's meant to be rushed through, and forcing yourself through it just to get it over with will only make you miserable. Please take your time; there's no reason to hurry.
Hm... how long do we have to test?
Just play through the entire game. All the way to Bonus Bonanza World (not really a island now is it?) The Koopaling Armada should be the last level, unless you missed some stars & couldn't access some of the Neutral Nexus levels, which is unlikely due to the mapping/path 'glitch' that opens up all of Neutral Nexus too early.

SRW2 Beta is Here!

Why not just use the SMB3 styled 'Level-ending' star?
