BD_DESIGN'S PROFILE

Just another ex-gaming industry hopeful, going to school and learning as much as I can. I don't think making a game will directly affect my chances of getting a job, but it will teach me the process as well as organization, something I sorely lack. I'm no longer working for Zynga, which is too bad.

What else? I like Japanese food and cinema (but I'm not an otaku), CRPGs (of course), electronic music (90's Industrial FTW), Belgian ales, meat cooked over fire, 420, CGI, 3D animation, cats, SNES, subversive or black comedy, dystopian sci-fi, and any epic fantasy brave enough to step out of the Tolkien shadow.

My dislikes include all forms of bigotry, country music, fast food, factory farms, multinational corporations, warfare, social networking, romantic comedies (in general), and politics.

Looks great, but you might think about using shift + click on the tree autotiles just behind the wall, so that the perspective looks better. The tree trunk nearby is 3 tiles high, but the wall is 5 tiles high.

RMXP MP and SP

You could track other point values with variables, but you'd have to alter the battle system to show those values.

Project Planning/Working Methods?

Use this.

A GDD is only a small part of the pipeline process, but an important one. Use the tools the pros use.

I think I see a small error on the bridge going from left to right, but that might be the clouds messing with my eyes; regardless it's a fantasic map.

I think those are snow piles on the bridges.

Looks great!

By the way, keep in mind the difference between affect / effect.

What are you jammin' too?

Action Resolution System - Thoughts

If you could integrate this better so that the break from immersion is minimal, you'd have something there.

So why am I hearing that the Airbender movie sucked?

I think that the general reasoning why adaptations upset fans is that they are just that, adaptations. Details and backstories are changed, condensed, or even dropped altogether, in the interest of drawing in casual moviegoers and bringing in that box office ca$h. This of course upsets hardcore fans, but investors don't care about that. Art is a business in the entertainment industry.

One of my friends is a HUGE Airbender fan, I'll have to see what he thinks about the film.

As for trailers, they are not usually done in-house, so often times scenes will be edited out of context or include scenes that end up on the cutting floor. Usually, the people working on the trailer don't even know what the movie is about, they just get a bunch of dailies and are told to make it look good. IIRC, much of the material for the District 9 trailers were filmed for promotional purposes and not used in the movie. Even the music can be different, as the score for the film may not even exist yet.

Remember, trailers are advertisements; they are meant to convince you to buy into something you don't really need. Or in this case make something crappy look good, although I can't specifically cite this movie (haven't seen it).
