BadLuck's Music Topic
Ahh... maybe. I'll have to check the old webspace I had with RMN. It may also be in the topic for it on GW somewhere.
Anyway, here's my next song!

As the name implies, it was an attempt to write something like a pop song or soft rock or something... It uses my absolute favorite chord progression.
After a little advice from Mala, I changed it a bit... And it came out okay. I need to work on my melodies more... Anyway, here it is!

Yeah, it'll definitely be better when it's not midi. I'm still working hard on the basics right now. I'll be working on that sort of thing when I get more comfortable with all this.
BadLuck's Music Topic
Hi guys! I don't post here often, but I WILL be maintaining this particular topic...
Recently, I decided to try and better my composition skills so that one day, I'll be good enough to compose Ara Fell: First Light (AFXP)'s soundtrack myself. I know it'll take several months of practice, but I think I can do it... So I'll be posting my progress here!
I'd love feedback, criticism, encouragement or just general conversation about this sort of thing.
So anyway, here's my first song! It took me about 4 hours to make with Fruity Loops. The music is FL standard midi with a few effects thrown in. It was my first song in about 8 years... It's not finished and since it was composed with the demo version of FL, I can't save it as a project file... it was only exported as an MP3.
There are definitely some problems with it... I have a habit of writing really repetitive songs, so I tried to rememdy that with this a bit. I've been told it sounds Day 1: 2/28/08 like an old school space shooter or something.
Anyway, here it is!
EDIT: I made this everything I've done so far...

2007 Misaos
I think R3P did so poorly because...
A) I sort of said, "Here's some half finished game I gave up on! Have fun!", which doesn't exactly make people flock to it...
B) When I released, I went up against LotPS... so bad timing on my part.
C) The first dungeon is too long!
So I sort of shot myself in the foot. But thanks for the support, guys! I'm glad it was still appreciated, despite all that.

Gredlen's Official Anime and Manga Topic of Fun and General Merriment!
First and foremost, my favorite and most reviled anime both at the same time, Mai HiME and Mai Otome. The former being one of the most incredible and heart-breaking stories I've ever seen (so much so that I never, ever want to watch it again) and the latter being a little less brilliant but a little more fun and starring one of my favorite characters.
I'd say anyone that hasn't watched at least the first season of School Rumble is very much missing out. It's a little like Azumanga Daioh, only with guys in the mix as well and the two main characters are absolutely golden. Unfortunately, SR it started to get away from what made it great near the end of the second season.
Haruhi Suzumiya is definitely one of my favorites. Kyon and Haruhi are really entertaining, while all the other characters are just odd enough to be out of place in a really good way. The story itself is pretty interesting, I think. Haruhi being... who she is... I find to be compelling. I totally didn't expect it. And the fact that we don't know if it's even true or not, especially in stark contrast to the humor of everything, is really quite unsettling for me. Good stuff!
Zero no Tsukaima I liked for the first 10 or so episodes of the first season. But they slowly got away from what made the show cute and funny and started to get into a more serious story. I have no problem with a serious story, but they've got a cast meant for a comedy and they stopped being funny. Particularly Louise for, who is supposed to be a bumbling mage, rarely screws stuff up later in the series or at all in season 2.

How important is original 'unique' music in an indie game?
Naturally, if you're reusing a soundtrack or songs from other games and they're recognized, it can spoil the mood you're going for. As long as you're able to get the feel you want without using songs that are easily recognized, I think a custom soundtrack is mostly a luxury.
