BEN_RANDOM'S PROFILE

I'm Ben_Random. I've been around since 2008 but I didn't really get active here since Super RMN Bros. 2. That, an unfinished game, and a couple of contests sums up what I've done with game making on this site. I find that my main purpose here is writing. I have a few tutorials out there, as well as some reviews on Mario fan games such as RMN Bros. or Mario V.S. the Moon Base.

Now with the internet the way it is these days, you can probably use just this information to stalk me.

how did you get the fullscreen/windowed mode option at teh begining, and how did you show the little, "Presented by Kisareth Studios" intro movie thing?
The fullscreen/windowed mode option at the beginning is a script available for use by Helladen, however that script was incompatible with my title screen so I had to edit it extensively in order to get it to work.

As for the intro splash screens, there are several scripts out there that will do that for you. I used Vlue L. Maynara's Pretitle Script as a reference, and created my own script out of it that was more compatible with what I was doing.

I'm no awesome coder or anything, a lot of how I've been learning Ruby was through trial and error and referencing other scripts. I think getting hands-on with it is the best teacher. :)

Two things:

1. Could you possibly maybe hopefully send me a link to the scripts. :)

2. I think that red font color just may kill me.

Advice on this please

This has changed form a request for advice on a picture to "why MS paint doesn't suck as much as InfectionFiles I mean photoshop." (JK)

Thanks for the praise. You had the talent in you, just not the training.

Agreed.

Hello, I need some quick advice.

Actually, I now have a new question. If I use the caterpillar script, the party member(s) follow you. My problem with this is say that you don't want the player to follow you until a certain point in the game? Then what do you do?

I am no scripter, in fact I know nothing of RGSS2 (or whatever it's called) but I have heard of something called a call switch. A switch you can turn on to activate a script or deactivate it. maybe someone could elaborate on this?

A word on weird games

My game is semi-weird. It's making a modern, VX, platformer game. No scripts.

Copyrights, legal messes, and all that jazz.

You can say that any and all original works contained therein are copyrighted to their respective authors or something along those lines. That way, you're saying that anything completely custom that you or someone else makes is copyrighted to them, and no one can reproduce it. You're not saying VX is yours, or the RTP tiles and the like, just what is custom-made. A lot of companies do it that way, to get around certain legalities.

Though Lennon is also correct, for most RM games there's very little chance of anything of that nature happening.

Will do. Thanks.

Copyrights, legal messes, and all that jazz.

So, for my VX game, I was wondering how and what I should say to professionally get the point across that I don't want people to copy my game and reproduce it. Thanks.
