I was wondering that myself actually. The light I added in Photoshop reduced the shadows even more... I do quite like how he came out though (In more ways than one~)
Painting Tree Chipsets
I'm really impressed on how you did your leaves~ Any chance you'll be giving a small tutorial or such? Self-made custom resources are always awesome!
The base of the 3rd tree looks as if it doesn't blend into the ground too much though. Obviously there isn't a ground/ grass tile made for it yet so I can see you working with that. Looks great though.

Also, it seems as though there are some areas that are missing a shadow. I would delete all auto-shadows, or add shadows where they make sense. E.G, the water to the right of any cliff.
Yeah I plan to do so, it looks ugly in-game, especially since I'm using a lighting script.

Hehe, I've been told by quite a few Damien is one of the best designed males. And this was only 250x300 pixels so it's like 2-3 facesets~
I need to show the other characters some more love like the good ol' days xD In the first incarnation of Ruby Chronicles it was only Kyro, Ralisa, Ricardos, Shereece and Yvette. Plus Alan and Keira was planned for a sequel. Back then Yvette was my favorite (Ralisa has always been god-tier favorite for me xD) Damien, Melonie and Markus came afterwards~

How do you go about your lineart?
I draw the picture on paper then scan it in and trace over it rather than using a tablet (due to me not having one and not getting used to the feeling of using one. It's so awkward...)
Then I fill, render and shade than usual.

Maybe you can at least give a bit of fanservice by having a cutscene where Aio tries it on while perusing new outfits and decides not to wear it. :P
