I think I am never going to livestream my work on Hero's Realm

You'd still be more productive than me. My streams would be me sitting with my head in my hands at an empty sketchpad for months at a time followed by an hour of me getting all excited over one idea and getting emotionally pumped to work on it, then half of the time failing to deliver on said idea.

Scatter Review

I'm surprised neither review brought up the startling fact that
The main character shoots and kills their love interest.

I really feel like the ending was just "Yume Nikki did this, so I'm doing it, too." It's pretty much exactly the same with the bloody mess on the right and the credits scrolling on the left.

I dunno, it was just a really hard thing to "play". I was thinking about jumping in and reviewing it myself, but it was so short and didn't say enough so I just decided not to, you know?

I need a hero!

The shift away from RTP kind of makes me sad, but I'm sure it'll make the game more desirable for the average Steam user. What I want to see is how this will affect Tritonis. Also, I don't think anyone can get into the beds in the first screen with the bookcase in the way or the left in the second with the table (not to mention that the beds are riding halfway up the wall).

Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy Review

I thought the game was needlessly long and relied too heavily on "this is a Final Fantasy game, guys" instead of making a good game that just so happened to feature Final Fantasy aspects like Chocobos and the Ultimate Weapon. I felt like the dev took a blanket approach to rebalancing his game when critique started coming in that it was too easy instead of fine tuning certain areas (it really feels like he left the monsters as is and changed the heroes stats based on percentages), hence why now the first fight with Darius that should serve as a throwaway encounter (or even a combat tutorial) is instead very likely to result in a Game Over. I felt that the need to use Running Shoes just to counteract most monsters abilities to get their turns faster than the heroes (sometimes even casting Haste on themselves and Slow on your party) was a dumb design choice given that almost every RPG makes use of the micromanaging of equipment and items to the player's style. I felt that maybe padding the endgame out with 20+ levels of grinding wasn't such a good idea... but even then, I had to give it a solid average score because the game is just simply average across the board. There was a time when I spent over three hours trying to go over this whole experience in my head to rationalize giving it an average score when others gave it positive to extremely positive scores (one such user described it as giving them an erotic pleasure).

How you came to a 1.5 conclusion just seems completely uncalled for. A score like that should be reserved for games that are more or less broken in one way or another. I also saw that you reviewed Hero's Realm and gave it a 2 star with your flagship complaint being that the combat system needed to be revamped, when the crowning achievement of that game was its high level of party customization and excellent combat balancing. Feel however you will (I'm certainly not going to be one to come to this game's defense), you have to look at the game from its own merits.

Moving forward as a reviewer, I hope you'll ponder over this.

EDIT: I'm flashing back to my own playthrough of this game.

I was also supremely disappointed when I got past the overworld and expected something new and exciting from the underworld just to find it had even less effort put into it than the overworld. It really sucks when you've got something you think you're looking forward to wind up being nothing like what you're looking for.

I also remember Christopher's LP (that I wish he'd switch back over to public instead of private, since I assume it's still on Youtube) of the game and how he referenced my review a couple of times and where he disagreed with it and my score, and how I felt validated when he went into the game to add essentially a free boss killer item to the game just to see the end. He wrapped it up by going back on some of his earlier statements but still respected the game for what it set out to do, even if it wasn't fun.

Does Anyone Remember GamingW? (Remembering Gamingw)

I remember the lockers. I also remember S4D being a mod (Esp I believe he went by) and him teaching me the ropes when I started my first thread.

The things I miss the most are the emoticons and the engine image labels for threads. Stuff like that slime RPG with the custom character designer, Clouded Heart, Demon Legacy and RMXP being the hot new thing; not to mention the reliable Rare Game thread.

Oh, and Grave Spirit. Still 10x more dramatic, dark and poetic than anything written before or since, and despite not being a horror game, still manages to give me the heebie-jeebies (especially the massive ominous owl statues).

Someone left GamingW and handed the reins to Steel. And they were one of those who wanted GamingW to be less RPG Maker focused and more indie game focused. I think part of that crowd hates RPG Maker. It failed. And then I heard he died of Cancer.

I remember him spending a lot of time in the hospital having his brain rid of tumors and having him squeeze out a post once in a blue moon that would take him forever to type with the few fingers he could use at the time. Then he just disappeared and his sister logged into his account to tell us that he'd died.

The resulting memorial thread was something else. Someone dug up some old quotes of his, one of which was him saying that the one thing he wanted to do was make a difference in the world and how he doubted he'd ever do it. If he could've seen the crowd that came together after he was gone, he would've scratched "make a difference" off his list.

You don't have the satisfaction of learning while you're drunk. You've gotta wait until you're sober again for that.

"That is his piss" comes to mind.
