This "Where will you be in 10 years time" thread from 2009 is super-interesting. https://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/5343/

I'd rather not think about it...
This actually makes me kind of sad.

I am like some sort of RMN Nostradomus!
And yet you never said you were going pro with Hero's Realm. Some Nostradamus.

Reminder: If we catch you farming buzz, we will deplete all of your buzz and remove the offending object. Second time will lead to your gamepage being downed. Please don't try and cheat the system. Thanks!

And, of course, don't game the site's buzz algorithm.

I propose a new event: the Game Buzz. It's like a Jam but RMN exclusive.

There was that game that we'd prefer to forget ever existed that was about some "birdman" who went around having "sex" with women. There was also an orc that had "sex" with you if you lost.

Essentially anything that includes "sex" is pretty edgelord for me.

EDIT: Remember the other day when I was visibly upset that my FC Twin decided to call it a life on me and I decided against buying Super Mario All-Stars and sharing it with my folks because of it? Well...

We're back on, baby.

Really obvious observations that anyone can make from opening an exported model with a 3D program? As a side note: low poly can be really overstated as every video game developer "did something crudely but did the best with what they could" back in the 90s.

Went out for a ride when I found myself outrunning a thunderstorm, bright flashes of lightning reflecting off my glasses. I decided to use this instance as inspiration for an in-game proverb. I may tweak it later, but this is what I came up with.

Essentially, lasting progress is rarely pleasantly made. Oftentimes it requires a jarring push, otherwise we'll end up rolling back on old habits.

The Nintendo Classic Edition is no longer available because con-artists and merchants are ruining the market for legitimate buyers? That's fine, I'll just play some old games on my FC Twin.

What? My FC Twin no longer works?

Well fuck my life.

I don't care if it's illegal, I'm just gonna download all the roms and play them on emulators that won't flare out due to disuse or wtfever.

It's nothing personal, Nintendo, I'm just starting to really hate relying on shoddy technology and people. Get your ass on Steam and maybe I'll buy your shit again. I mean shit, Capcom does it; Squaresoft* (+ more) does it; why not YOU? I bought just about everything from them, so you know you've got at least one cash cow ready with a wallet full of greenbacks.

*Bolded for your convenience.

The audio quality may be crap due to constant clipping, but 6:41 is some master strats and incredible finger speed.

Save Your Mother Review

I know you've said time and time again that the game works the engine to its limits, but one thing I thought of that might help with the Hell Casket mini-game is having a scrolling panorama of a lava cave with events on the side as collision detection and have the obstacles be objects that move towards the player as opposed to having them be stationary objects on the map. You'd probably have to scrap the wall of lava that starts up on the final map, but with obstacles and enemies you have to dodge, I think that's enough.

You could also have less than 20 events for the whole map if you space out your obstacles well enough and have them reappear at the bottom of the map when they've reached the top and are no longer in use. Then once the player reaches the intended end, remove their ability to control the character and have the casket be moved to the bottom of the map by an event with a victory handler.

I'll see if I can't whip up something like this in RPG Maker 2003 and share it here as an example, because I feel like working within certain limitations will actually help you realize your game's full potential.

EDIT: Includes increasing difficulty.

I just heard today that the NES Classic Edition (or whatever they call it) is being discontinued, so I went out of my way to ride my bike all over town to two of the nearest retailers (Wal-Mart and Target) to see if they had anything. Unfortunately they didn't, so I had to take the peddle of shame back to my abode. I also nearly ate shit while crossing the street (the bike went over while I just kind of hopped like a dumb ass to retain my balance), so I took a shower once I got back.

At least I tried.
