1.44 Floppy Disc Event

Avee/Mirak: The game looks sharp - nice maps and game boy graphics. The music choices are vintage as well. The presentation is certainly on point, and the project definitely has the heart of a community game.

My main issues are with the platforming segments, and that's where I stopped for the time being. Ultimately what killed my momentum was: (1) The wall at the top of the screen, (2) The sheer length of the segment, and (3) Kangaroos charging at me without any real telegraph. The latter one isn't that big of a deal since it only happened once per zone and there were ways to deal with it. I'll have to pick it up again soon :)

Delsin:
A fun little text-based adventure. I got Dennis'd, not gonna lie. The British Empire and their prices...

Oh, and I got made into scrap as well. Rip me.

I got the good ending after maybe 3 or 4 game overs :P

coelocanth:
This was fun while it lasted. I did get a couple of game-overs at the start, but I eventually figured out what was going on. I liked the layout, the lighting effects, and the overall look of this ASCII (?) kind of game. I found a couple of clubs, cleared out the first floor, went to the second floor, but then got sent back to the title screen. :(

Irog:
Ooh, an isometric hack and slash! A pleasant surprise. Holding down ctrl seemed to have a better effect. I tried kiting enemies but I wasn't able to hit them, so I had to face tank a lot of damage. Oh well. I killed 81 enemies.

Swamp Game:
I really liked this one. The monochrome graphics were nice and detailed, the script was well written, and the design of all the branching choices was pretty intuitive. There were only a couple of options that led to surprising game overs - most of the game over options were clearly telegraphed. I never found enough muscle to move the rock, but I was able to gather enough social to claim the swamp as my own. Probably my second or third favorite so far.

Ultros Pacman:
Cute concept, Avee. The game is really fluid too! I played 3 levels - I'm not particularly amazing at Pac-Man, but it wasn't too hard. The portals were a nice twist.

WolfCoder:
Dem angled cliffs ftw. The combat was interesting - I liked having the option to evade attacks. I started mashing enter to knife enemies to death quickly. I did get a game over eventually and the game seemed to freeze up there. Lots of potential here, obviously.

I need to get to play all the gams, not a big deal since all are probably short, right? No one did a 5 hour spheal about life and death in a Final Quest Fantasy Dragon format, right? Because I'd fricking love it.
Uhhh....about that.....

Does a 3-5 hour traditional JRPG count?
I'm gonna play this; maybe even stream it. :y

Ohh nice <3 It's complete and playable, but it does have a few warts - I'm not quite happy with where the story is at. I'll be releasing a more enhanced version on the forthcoming gamepage probably next week. I don't mind either way, though - it's an event game, and there are gonna be warts and concessions that were made! Gotta own up to them, I guess. XD

Corf: It's really nice to see you continuing to flesh out your world with these event games. I'm glad you were able to make the ship tileset work. The style and animation of your text boxes is really clever and unique.

Orochii: I loved the look of this game, and the combat was nice and smooth. It reminded me of some old-school RM2000 cyberpunk games. I think I'll play a bit more when I get the chance.

Random thoughts so far:

Frogge's game was a really nice, trippy walk down aesthetic lane. It feels like a proof of concept for a larger work.

Piano's game stays true to old school dragon quest and doesn't overstay its welcome. Probably my favorite of the projects so far. I'm a content kind of guy - any game that gives me lots of areas to slog through and inventories to manage will have my love, and Piano delivers on that front. It was fun to break the game open toward the end with my superpowered character!

I liked the custom graphics in Spaghettivase as well as how colorful the text was - a very unique look!

Ex-Girlfriend was a fun little platformer. The hitbox on some of those enemies seemed pretty mean, though. I won't lie, the title screen and title itself got a little bit of amusement out of me - perhaps from personal experience?

OATH shows so much potential in that intro, but it took me a while to figure out how to leave the town and the world map was a slog. I encountered very difficult enemies everywhere I went, and at 5-step intervals to boot. When I started this game, I had been working on Unchained for 16+ hours and was burnt out, so I probably missed something. It's a game I want to make myself continue to play, though, because it shows so much promise. Soooo hit or miss on this one. With some tweaks, this would easily be among my favorites.

Still have a bunch of games to play through. A bunch!

Thanks, Piano :3 Yeah, I definitely tried to give it the nerf bat a little bit before uploading last night. Years of hardcore MMORPG gameplay kinda made me lose perspective a bit. I highly recommend people play on Casual Mode so they at least have the option to pump up their stats if they run into trouble.

I'm already planning an updated/expanded release on the upcoming gamepage next week.

Some gifs from my floppy game, Unchained. It's posted on the event page, but I do plan on polishing it some more in the coming days by adding a couple optional areas, some rewritten/expanded cutscenes, etc. Needs more work to be good but it's a start.

I'm about two days behind schedule since it was a busy week. Time to catch up.
