If you could raise Mario 1 or 2 pixels so it looks like he's standing on the log and not the edge, it would be 10x better.
If not, no biggie.

Nooooo D: Don't redo.
Just add a shine effect, like a sliding glimmer. Maybe a few white spots to denote shininess.

Yeah, you're right. In the end it's all positive.
I've just been observing that when a screenshot is posted, the fine-tooth combs come out when, had there been no screenshot, we probably wouldn't notice the flaws.
