Triax: The Rising
Ahh, good ol' GameFAQs.. I still go there, though I don't post a whole lot. I haven't even been onto this account here in like 8-9 months until now. I actually have a save file of this game going right now. ^_^
Dragon Adventure
IMO you don't necessarily need to keep all of the core elements to make a game "like" another game. Remember kids, thinking outside the box is not always a bad thing.
That said, I actually like what I see here so far.

Who cares, I actually kinda like this battle screenshot. Reminds me of Phantasy Star 2 somewhat if you ignore the fact that it's side-view.
Boulder puzzle!
Personally, I always code it to move the boulder directionally using conditionals based on what direction the character is facing. I'm not sure if it does this in VX, but I've used the method outlined here in other RPG Makers and I've sometimes made an impossible push, say, downward, only to have the boulder move to the right as I leave to the left.

The context here is really meant a little more in a humorous way than in an "I'm awesome, I'm gonna pound you into the ground" way.. and that context presents itself in this actual scene. ^_^

I did, I made "Speedfol," an item that doubles the player's walk rate (which is already x2 faster by default), buyable. I actually only did this after I had already created the entirety of The Great Desert.
It is the vastness and relative emptiness that make The Great Desert what it is - a massive desert. I don't feel I could have achieved that with smaller and more detailed maps here, outside of decreased walk speed. And we all know how much people enjoy that.

Yeah, I thought I had some TileE stuff worked out, but it was actually erroneous, in a sense. By the time I got back around to it, I was too far along to want to re-do the forests.. but I do agree with you! That'll definitely be happening if I do another project.
