I'm getting used to not having access to the codebase from the engine, itself. There was something I wanted to look up. Such as how I wanted the "Attack" skill/command to calculate it's damage value. I believe it's...

4*a.parambase(3) - 2*b.def

...this. For monsters, I don't think it matters if I use "a.atk" or "a.parambase(3)". However, for the player character, I'm specifically looking for the value before equipment bonuses are applied. The equipment bonus would be from a gun, which has skills attached to it that consume MP ammo. Those skills are processed with the full value, and, or course, have a larger base-value. Though, I also want to have Stat-Stones in the game, and I think they increase the "paramplus" attribute? Which also happens to be where equipment bonuses are stashed/stored? Might need to test that theory.

Maybe just skip the paramplus and combine it yourself?

(not tested, but that _paramPlus array should be exposed? javascript is an interesting language)

Or just reuse the Luck attribute for it, I was kinda thinging about doing that for some other stuff (separating weapon power from stats) but it's a week long game and I'm already doing too much dumb stuff.

Sounds like that RGB mode is 24-bit which doesn't save alpha channel information, so shadows become opaque instead of the intended translucent. I don't know Photoshop or how to save it correctly, but if you see 32-bit that's the general safest one.

Touch Encounters and EXP

One approach is just focus levels/EXP based on one-time milestones. Design your game so the player gets the bulk of their level advancement from completing quests, defeating bosses, advancing the plot, that kind of stuff. This is a general thing too, it can apply to random encounters too since players can just run from those in-battle instead of on the map.

Limiting the number of encounters for an incursion into the dungeon can signal to the player an intended amount of enemies to defeat to keep up with the developer intended power curve. I don't know if you're doing that already though. If players are skipping too many fights in a dungeon, maybe there's too many enemies and the dungeon should have fewer fights with more rewards to keep the pace going?

I love hearing y'alls thoughts on the RTP music. Hearing about it, going and listening to it to refresh my memory, it's a definite nostalgic blast for me.

I do want to add another RPG Maker track that's top tier: Conflict from the SNES RPG Maker 2!

I think I found the bug bicfarmer got hit by: A battle with no enemies crashes the game. Turns out I had the wrong troops in the Sakamilac area and that included a fight with no enemies which lead to a crash situation. I fixed the crash bug and the enemies in that region. Hopefully that'll sort out that issue!

I also noticed an enemy had the wrong resistances (Final Sentinel) and fixed that too. Like... they had resistances to buffs and defaults to debuffs. Whoops!

Searching for "RPGツクール95" might get you some hits, that's the name of RPG Maker 95 in Japanese. I did see one link where you can buy it here:
