Quick Thread - Effects for a Gambler skill.
Or, of course, if you roll that the first turn of a battle and your party ain't feeling so hot. Who cares if the enemy party gets fully restored when you just encountered them and they were full health anyways?
Side Quests: Why?
I guess the only really obvious use for side quests is to let the player level a little more than he or she would be able to in the main story, but I still think for other uses (especially anything story related) the main quest should be expanded and incorporate those side-stories, rather than letting them hang loose.

If you are willing to code, don't use RM2k3. Just don't. I use Rm2k3 and I love it, but it's not for anything action oriented. Try GM or something a little more advanced. There's no reason to start at the bottom if you've got any kind of passion for coding.

Yeah I haven't been around for too long, but I've never seen you do anything adminy and so I can't comment on it, but "good" member doesn't do it enough justice.
Also every time I see holbert I recall the ancient days of yore in #rpgmaker on sorcery.net from whence I hail, as he's the only person who I remember from those days. And Mr. Brandon Abley, whose old project's title prompted me to start posting.

@Craze: I didn't say use rips. I said reach for the stars! Your games are well enough designed that you should be able to find someone willing to do custom graphics for your game, including chars that match those admittedly awesome facesets. Hell, I'm sure there are lots of people making graphics who can't craft the actual game portion worth a shite just waiting in the wings. You can do it. I believe you. Take it to the next level! A RMVX game with interesting systems? Well that's nice... A RMVX game with interesting systems and custom graphics that aren't "chibi" and awful? Sign me up!

I've successfully mixed the graphics of Dragon Warrior II, III and IV.
Now try it with the remakes of the higher numbered ones.
3D... textures... everywhere!
I have successfully mixed many a chipset, but in order for you to see them you must wait for my smash hit game to be released to the public. The suspense is killing me!
edit: I really like #2, it's much cleaner and simpler by just removing those backgrounds. I also realy like the use of those leaves in black and white. That intrigues me...
