Villnoire Review

Couldn't agree more with this review! Villnoire has a level of polish rarely seen. I think the combat woes are mostly due to RM2k3's weak combat system. Even though it's used well here, it's hard to completely overcome its weaknesses.

Glad to see this game getting some well deserved love!

Another way to solve the captain saying he'll never sail again would be to have Amelia say it while Magnus still unconscious on the beach (just swap the roles).

It's given to whoever is in character slot 3. Because you chose Magnus last, he said it. If you had chosen Amelia last, she would have said it. It's not tied to anyone's personality, but instead it's tied to the order of which characters you picked when. I always wanted to have more branching dialogue for each character, but the constraints of being a solo dev meant that I had to make it a bit more generic. I can make a special branching condition for this one, though.

EasyRPG is probably using my default Linux font.

Ah okay, that makes sense. It looks pretty good!

Moonsong: First Verse Review

Wow! No complaints at all about this review. I agree with everything you said.

I've heard from a lot of people now that the game is too easy near the end, which is an important lesson in really ramping up enemy difficulty to match a player's potential power. I guess I didn't expect people to be so good at brutalizing the enemies. I'll definitely ramp up difficulty in future releases!

Magnus saying he'll never sail again is definitely not intended. The dialogue is the same for whoever is in that player slot, but I'll likely go in an add a special option for him during that cutscene so he can't say it. It was mostly meant as hyperbole anyway, rather than a declaration of fact. The entire party will have to sail again in the Second Verse...

The barrels and crates in Karnev (the stealth section) are mostly there to block the player's path, but honestly they could use a couple of items. I always prefer to reward exploration whenever I can.

I'll take a look at these bugs and fix them all up. Guess I'll have to make a v1.3! I appreciate the screenshots, they should make it easy to patch everything up quickly.

All in all, I appreciate the review a lot!

By the way, what font are you using? There is one included with the game, but it doesn't seem to be the same one from these bug screenshots.

Thank you for the review! I really appreciate it. I can't find fault with anything you said. That fifth star might be pretty elusive, heh heh.

Don't underestimate the female characters, though! Bows (which only Amelia can use) have a high critical rate and both can get very powerful magic that's cheap to cast. They can smash things quite well, too!

Maps and enviroment are beautiful, the only part I didn't like was the desert, but uhm it is really short.

I hope you took Leonov with you! ^_^

The desert is a little more forgiving than it was before! Speaking of Leonov, mastering Suntouch makes him immune to sunstroke...

Wow! A review! Thank you!

I certainly can't complain about anything you've written, especially because you didn't say anything was bad, even though there is definitely some bad stuff in the demo. ;)

A few things: The characters have already been revamped and rebalanced because I completely agree with you, in the demo some are much more useful than others and it makes some people feel useless. I want people to be able to play with whoever they like the most, not necessarily have some characters who are just the best at everything.

The save point locations have been tweaked slightly in the current version, but it's always a difficult tight-rope to walk. I like the savepoints to be in locations that will see multiple uses, so putting one deep in a dungeon that the player will only use once before a boss goes against my style. But of course, making the player feel punished because the last save point was so far back is also very bad, so I have to be careful. I may have to add one to that house in the last screenshot you posted, though...

Anyway, thank you for the very positive review! I appreciate it!

Also, it's very funny to see some of the old graphics from the demo since I've been working hard to improve them. I'd almost forgotten how boring those house interiors were...

Monstrous Wars Review

Cool, a review! What a blast from the past. If I recall correctly, there were big plans to link all that weird stuff together, but King of Games moved on to different things. He and I were working together to overhaul combat, but the project was shelved before that came to fruition. It's really awesome to see people still enjoying this game after all these years.

Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy II Review

I was wondering if some of the colour wonkiness might be a result of colour blindness! There's a pretty simple solution to that issue though: ask someone. The BP series has lots of adoring fans who would jump at the chance to be a part of refining its rough edges.

I think a lot of RMers and writers (myself included) suffer from the notion that the story has to start at the absolute beginning of the adventure as we watch our plucky level 1 characters fight rats and slimes (or their equivalent). Honestly, I think if we'd just been dropped in on a mission-in-progress as Zephyr and Reiner arrived at Alexandria that might have better served the story. It's obviously one thing to play through a game and say 'oh you shoulda done this!!!' and another to have the foresight to look at a blank page and come up with the same idea, though.

Everlasting Journey Review

Yeah while we're realistically yelling out spell names

Everlasting Journey Review

But what does it matter? Fire1 is the first in a list of incrementally more powerful Fire skills. I don't want to have to remember which is more powerful; Flame or Fire Release. I admit, having a skill called "Spark" that is just like Lightning0.5 is a bit silly (it should just be replaced, if it's only going to do basic damage).

Everlasting Journey Review

The pigs (goons?) have both Confuse and also an Earth spell that did like 110 damage to Athesis AND confused her in one go. I always took out the Spirit first since it was an easy kill, but by the end of round 2 Athesis is pretty much always dead.

edit: I'm almost certainly underlevelled with Athesis, but there's not a whole lot I can do about that at the current stage. Was the jungle removed because it wasn't done, or because you just didn't want players to have to deal with it? I'd suggest adding part of it as a playable area and moving the merchant there to give the player a chance to stock up before the tower.
