[Poll] Give Liberty (or whoever does it) Ideas For Events

Here is a idea, have a Dragon Quest event based on the groundwork of Dragon Quest VII.

EDIT:
The more I think about it, the more complicated such a event could happen unless maintained very carefully.

Treasure Chests: THE CULLING

Best approach is quality versus quantity, and from there you'll find the balance you will need for the number of chests.

Also here is a tip, if weapons and armor are getting to the point of high level quality you can experiment by giving different effects to each high level weapon or armor.

Like a Weapon that is capable of hitting twice, armor that can give more protection against fire, etc.

Censorship and Security Paradoxes

Most mainstream news nowadays is more ideological rather than the facts. You would be very hard pressed to find talk shows that care legitimately about people.

Dragon Quest +

I'm happy nothing too crazy happened to you, that was a bit concerning.

Also seems like you might be becoming sensitive to Blue Light which most computer screens produce, and there is actually a filter you can get (I remember a co-worker of mine telling me this that was for OSX devices, might be possible that Laptops/desktops have that option too). Hopefully your condition will be reversible, and when you do come back I suggest you start wearing protective lenses or for the sake of your health in general you can have a trusted friend help you out with your game.

If the project dropped all together is fine too, your health is more important.

Wonder if YDS knows he is a legend for making this topic after so many years?

[Poll] Give Liberty (or whoever does it) Ideas For Events

Fan adaptations sound fun, There is some video game series out there that had some background information that didn't turn into a game per say (one example was the elf wars in Mega man X).

There is also Xenosaga: Missing Year

Do your games have a continuity?

My games will have continuity, my first game will be set in the present and then my 2nd game will be set as a prequel (if I do this right).

Right now I'm having issues with writing the story to make sure both connect properly, you would be surprised just how tough it is to make a Antagonist that isn't one-dimensional.

Rise of the Indie or small studio developer?

Here is some thoughts I was thinking about:

I think because of what happened after the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era was over that graphics became the main thing, and it has caused quite a downfall for many studios whether they were indie or part of a big company. Also besides graphics but more advanced coding that will take much longer than it was usually possible. I believe today's audience has gotten unfortunately spoiled, and in some ways the players themselves has caused a major rift that is not likely to heal. Every now and again you may get something like Cosmic Star Heroine that does really well, but it might take a bit more effort to get the world-wide audience on the same page to re-accept the past and let it meld with the present. Unfortunately I hear things like how today's generation pretty think our generations of games sucked ass (well some games did suck) but they even thought some of the popular games sucked as well, Idk where this mindset is coming from but it's pretty sad there is a disrespect going on (statistically I hope it's not a big number of people thinking like that).

If such a scenario were to pass, I think the Japanese Industry itself will likely revitalize itself so it doesn't have to rely on AAA experiences anymore. Also considering the advanced tools available compared to the 90s that making a retro experience is not as hard anymore. Personally I would like to see more PS1 looking games with some visual upgrades that are now possible, and or games that are similar to Arc the Lad and Alundra. Those era of games had a appeal that hasn't been replicated for a long time now.

Pretty much I was of fan of PS1 games that had 3D environments mixed with sprites, I felt it was the perfect recipe for success for those types of games. PS1 3D characters were just too ugly in my opinion (unless it was something like Final Fantasy 9).

Also I noticed you all been talking about advertising, I think the best approach for Indies (IMO) is start off making a video trailer on youtube and then eventually spread yourself to various social media platforms (Reddit, etc). it's usually a good start, and it just grows from there.

The real trick is whether host yourself on STEAM or GOG first, I know some people have issue with STEAM. Idk the stance on GOG though, and just how huge the playerbase is.

Rise of the Indie or small studio developer?

So with the controversy and rumors that have been coming out this past decade so far concerning big companies like Nintendo, Capcom, EA, Bioware, Ubisoft, etc.

That many people have been turning away to not work with these companies considering the hard truth of what they do to their employees, and their creations (more on that).

It's been said from what little information I know of this situation that when you sign up for a big game company, and you present ideas to them that chances are you're not going to see most of that money due to the contract. This in turn has caused many would be game developers to turn to STEAM and GOG first before dealing with console gaming (in fact this is becoming more of a consistent trend nowadays). Though there are exceptions, but you have to be careful what you're signing up for.

Also there is the case that indies make doubly sure they copyright their work first because there have been cases of these video game companies trying to make false claims and such to try to get a hold of their original IP. At first I wasn't sure whether to believe that, but I've been hearing more of these cases.

This could be why so many developers we knew and love have departed away from the companies we have known for so long (though some cases are different), and why so many IPs went away along with them (though there are exceptions).

There is also a story out there that there has been less developers entering into these old video game companies and I don't blame them considering what's been going on. These days you're better off starting something on your own with your trusted friends to make it big before ever dealing with the behemoths that don't seem to have a moral compass anymore (or if they ever had one to begin with). Also as a side-effect it could be why RPG Maker as of late as gotten more popular, and attempts at making original IPs has been rising (though success is varied depending how much effort was put into it).

Don't get me wrong I don't want to see these old companies fail (except EA, EA is pure trash) but they really need to change their work culture before it starts to leave a black mark on their name.

I've been meaning to discuss this with you all, and see everyone's thoughts on it.
