Rough Character Sketches

Now that is well done.

Rough Character Sketches

No offense intended, but I'll be honest and say I feel like I am looking at bad hentai thanks to that ridiculous boob size. =\

Hero stops to hear messages (please help)

OH.... Well thank u boys and gilrs ^^ and sorry for the silly question ^^

You're quite welcome, my good sir.

As for your other question, input the following within a parallel event:

<> Message: O gatinho
<> Wait: 20.0 Sec

To get the Wait command wait 20 seconds, input "200" into the text field. The Wait command divides that value by 10 (200 / 10 = 20.0) before parsing. If you use a faceset, be sure to set that before firing off the message too.

Hero stops to hear messages (please help)

The Message Box event command makes a message box open with the text string you put in, it then waits until you hit the Enter key. While the box is open, the hero's movement will be frozen (hero is "talking" or being "talked to") and any concurrent events currently running will be paused.

Choosing to prevent hero from hiding automatically places the message box at the top or bottom of the window as appropriate. Allowing events to continue allows any concurrently running events to not be paused while the message box is open.

It is thus impossible to have the hero move about and interact with the map while a message box is open. What you ask can only be done via pictures or battle animations.

Your oponion about "RTP Games"

I did.I'm not a pixelist, either.

404 my good sir.

Help w/ ladder minigame (die hard arcade style)

The problem appears to stem from the fact that when you are hit by the rocks the movement of one tile down overrides all other movement, including the jump and regardless of the current movement being completed or not.

I tried to find a way around it, including stopping the rocks while the jump is in progress, but you've coded the minigame in such a way that if one part is the slightest bit different then the entire thing breaks down.

I can only suggest you find a solution from there. To reiterate, it's the result of the rock-hit-damage-movement forcefully overriding everything else.

Also, as an aside, all of the common events can perform far better as map events.

"Selling Feature" of your game

What the hell was this topic about, again?

Your oponion about "RTP Games"

Several games might not be much but in reality RTP is used so much more that you can't really compare it to that. Play a few hundred pure RTP games and then tell me what you think.

I'm not sure how realistic finding a few hundred pure RTP games to play would be, especially since a good part of those are composed of the crappy RTP games which gives RTP its generally negative stigma.

That said, I've come across a fair share of RTP games and I can tell you with honesty that I'm not tired out of seeing the RTP. When I come across good RTP games, it reminds me of the hidden potential that the RTP has; and when I come across the crappy ones, I move on knowing that the game wouldn't be much different even when using something non-RTP. The skill, intellect, and dedication of the user shows through in the end, and it is amplified when I see it being done via the RTP since it has such an undeserving stigma attached.

<chaos's hugeass picture>

A few spatial errors stick out to me, but in general I'm impressed. It's not everyday I see an RTP town map with multiple levels to walk on.

@Arthur: Fire Emblem is good and all but it hasn't had close to the level of success Final Fantasy has had....

Hmmmm.......I wonder why?

While Final Fantasy clearly has a larger fanbase, you fail to note that Fire Emblem as a game series is just as old as Final Fantasy is (FF debuted in 1987, Fire Emblem debuted in 1990) and has left a lasting legacy comparable to Final Fantasy in its genre of turn-based strategy RPGs.

What if Final Fantasy kept using the same resources every game?

I wouldn't mind, personally. I assume some variation in character design and such will exist, of course, and using the same style over and over isn't something I frown upon. It could even become the trademark of that game series.
I sure as hell would hate to see every final fantasy done with the same graphics. If the newest game they come out with had ff7 graphics i wouldn't even touch it.

I think you misunderstood me there. FF7 graphics compared to whatever is the latest FF installment would be beyond an eyesore because of the sheer difference in style.

What I meant to say is that I wouldn't mind games sticking to a certain style over the course of several installments (or even daresay the whole series). Fire Emblem 6, 7 and 8 were all released one after the other and featured literally the same style of graphics bar the necessary character design differences. I didn't find that to be of any particular annoyance because what was being represented by the same graphics over the course of 3 games were a completely different cast and story.

Your oponion about "RTP Games"

@Arthur: I never said the RTP is a failure......I just said it gets boring to look at....you're putting words in my mouth now.

@Kingarthur: Well if somebody puts the time and energy into making a game that looks different, it is only right for that game to get better appreciation over something that uses resources that take no labor.

Your theory is that "Custom Graphics == Good Game", I reverse that mathematically and end up with "RTP Graphics == Bad Game" as RTP graphics are not directly distinct from other fellow RTP games.

Followed by your statement that RTP "takes no labor" to use (for the record, it does take skill to map using RTP well), it drove home the reverse theory of "RTP == Automatic Failure".

People like seeing new things.....and thats a fact.

"New" doesn't have to necessarily mean non-RTP graphics, but this is relative at best.

EDIT: @Arthur: You say you wouldn't mind seeing final fantasy use the same resources over again? That wouldn't help the series at all. Good thing Final Fantasy doesn't think like you.

Solitayre's Post
Final Fantasy actually did reuse quite a few resources in their early games, by the way.
