(TLDR/Summary of Steps):
1.Edit RPG_RT.ini with "FullPackageFlag=1" to run without RTP
-Go into your game project folder
-Find a file called “RPG_RT.ini”,
-Add “FullPackageFlag=1”, Save.

2. Download Harmony.dll and place it in your project folder with the RPG_RT.exe (not needed for steam RM2000/RM2003)

3. Download RMtools

4.Download the corresponding rtp:

RPGAdvocate's RM2003 RTP

5. Use RMtools to scan/import missing RTP files for rpgmaker2000/2003 - or drag and drop/merge Backdrop - TitleScreen RTP Folders into your game
6. Test your rpgmaker game on a computer that does not have rpgmaker installed.

7. If no errors are found, you're done!

ALEX III: A Three-Day Collaborative Game

Frogge was replaying this on discord today and it made me want to hunt down the original thread on gamingw to find out why some of the maps turned out the way that they did. The original thread can be found here:

This was really cool. I know it's been decades. But I really hope someone can like, one day pull off something similar. This was just a really cool collaborative event. I dunno if it's a 2007 thing, but I like the idea of how like, everyone played through it and talked about it afterwards. The fact that rpg who strung this together had notes on each one, and the changes he made in order to actually make it work was neat, but also interesting, to understand how he was able to pull this all together too.

Like, participating in this and providing commentary on why things didn't work out, kind of helps you improve as a developer, I dunno it was just really interesting to read and playthrough this.

This is a trailer for the 2007 demo of barkley shut up and gaiden. We're looking for the 2007 demo.
I came to gamingw in 2007-ish, but it was a bit later so I was only aware of the full game being available. We're looking for one made in game maker around this time, not the rm2000/2003 demo.

How to fix thief

As a side note I just got Rikku properly in FFX and they introduce her stealing mechanic. The gimmick is just: treasure chests as monsters, the battle ends without you getting the item if you don't steal from them. So it incentivises you to know whens a good time to steal but it's still busy work switching Rikku in, and then prolonging the battle by one turn. Not great but eh it does inspire some ways to hint to the player rather than assuming the player will steal from everything, or just never at all except boss fights.


Dammit, this was the one thing I wanted to contribute to this thread, lol. Yeah Rikku was kind of cool. On my OG save file for Final Fantasy X. My final team line up was Tidus, Wakka, Yuna and Rikku, because those 4 were the fastest and Rikku by the end of the game, became my main party healer, because she had that potion where she could heal the whole party in one turn before swapping her out for someone more useful, or just using an extra turn to do something.

Development roadmap

I always appreciate how you write down the challenges here, but also how you go about solving them. It kind of normalizes the process and sort of acts as a road map for the rest of us. I really enjoy reading these, really appreciate it.

[RM2K3] Blitz Mechanic? Channel Time on Magic?

Hi Doctor_Lugae, thanks for finally joining the forums. (very cool screen name♥!)

SideWinder and I were working on something like this before the pandemic hit. I was doing the animation, he was doing the programming - and like most of his work in RM2k3 - it was very easy and simple to understand. I was gonna originally release this tech demo alongside 6 other games I planned on working on/releasing, but then the pandemic hit.

But yeah the tech demo was going to be out there, so anyone could copy and paste the code into their own game and create new moves alongside the original without much work - similar to what Aten did with his Steal/Scan tutorial for RM2003 back in 2007.

I can't promise anything. But I'm gonna bookmark this page. Just in case I start tinker with it again. I was really impressed by SideWinder's work, because the biggest problem with Blitza and RM2k3 with creators in the past was that, it didn't actually look like FF6 Blitz? it only functioned like FF6 Blitz in theory - you could punch in keys and have a skill play out on screen - But it didn't feel the same way like it did in FF6. Sidewinder and I were able to get it look almost exactly like it did in FF6, but with a few changes so that it'd look more approperiate to RM2k3.

I'll keep ya posted, but ya, the biggest take away from this project is that; and I've said this many times to everyone since then. - don't come into RM2k3 with a set of ideas of what you want to do - learn what RM2k3 can do first, then build your game around those limitations.

By doing it this way, you may not be able to get the way you want it to work in RM2k3, but you'll get something that looks like it.

Update: I finally got around to tinkering with it today. Keep in mind, this is still like, super raw
it'd be better to add a cursor pointing at Sabin while performing the button inputs,
so it looks more like the original? and other stuff, like the jumping etc




But it works. You can even add new moves and animations to it.
Which is what I had planned to do with it originally but just never got around to it.
I'll try releasing it at some point once it's more complete.
