-write the story around your characters:

The Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic
author=DE
Guys, I'm looking for two, now obscure, Japanese RPG Maker demo games, namely:
- KNight-Blade - Survivor of Hell Hound (for RPG Maker 95 (!), not the XP sequel)- Abyss Diver #0 - The Xeno's Fortress (for RPG Maker 2000, not the VX sequel)
I've spent quite a bit of time digging through the net looking for these two, but all the links are dead.
I know it's a long shot, but maybe somebody has them stashed on their HD and could share!
EDIT: Just found the other topic, and surprisingly enough, there's Abyss Diver 0! That's one down. Still looking for Knight Blade.
Hi DE!
Welcome back to RMN ❤
Is this what you're looking for?

KNightBlade-The Survivor of Hell Hound(RM95).rar
A world two years after the end of the Fourth World War. Special forces "Hound dog of the hell" Cain, the last survival, was about to start a calm life in a remote village. However, following a certain incident, he would return to the battlefield again ....
SF-RPG set in the near future world. Depending on the situation, you may fight on a robot called Assault Gear, or you may face a strong enemy as it is. One piece I recommend as a mecha lover.
Internet contest park June 1999 gold prize winning work.
From archived Famitsu.com page
Please let me know! And I'll add it to the MasterList on the other thread.
I just downloaded it and gave it a spin, one of the CRAZY anime intros I've ever seen to an rpgmaker game!
What are you thinking about right now?

The RPG-World webcomic finally got a conclusion after a 9 year hiatus. Damn man.
http://ianjq.tumblr.com/post/166049167579/here-it-is-the-final-rpg-world-comic-a-recent
...I know this is like, two months old but, holy shit! Talk about a blast from the past.
I remember reading at some point, someone was trying to make an rpgmaker game about it, that didn't get too far.
EDIT: So, from web comics, to Cartoon Network's "OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes" Holy shit, what a ride!
It's wild to see RPG-World finally animated, even if it's just a brief send off.
Congrats Ian!
Does Anyone Remember GamingW? (Remembering Gamingw)
Thanks for your contribution Faust! ❤
Yeah, part of the reason why I started this thread was because of exactly what you mentioned:
Google seems to favor the most recent search results now,
(Like for instance, when someone had stolen the Phantom Legacy Fan Trailer I did awhile back, it became the first result on google, just because it was the most recent version to be uploaded to youtube)
But yeah, anything older than 5 years is considered irrelevant to the search engine – but it’s still out there, It’s just so much harder to find now because of google. If you guys have like, any old material you feel that’s worth sharing on a harddrive, please use this thread! I’d love to look at it. Shinan has been a big contributor to this thread and I can't thank him enough for it. As I mentioned previously, I only joined around 2007.
But I often look at the front page of GamingW as like a motivation booster and wonder what could've been. But I'm constantly going through the archives, just for info that simply just doesn't exist anywhere anymore, which is really unfortunate. Like, GamingW may not have been great at times, but similar to RMN, it still mattered to a lot of people.
EDIT:
Upload this ASAP!! ❤

The issue is, every time I search (over the past decade, anyway), there are fewer and fewer references to those people online- it's how I got here this morning, in fact! Random memory followed by "I WILL SEARCH GAMINGW IN THE GOOGLE", followed by this thread. Like I've totally bummed myself out this morning, just due to the transient nature of things, and like how the vast majority of everything only exists in memory now?

The Misaos Article
Thank You for putting this article together. kory_toombs ❤
I have a question:
...If RMN began hosting the misao awards in 2006, where were the Misaos Awards hosted from 2002-2006?
Like, I know they were hosted on queens court from 2002-2006, but in order to have an award ceremony of some sort for rpgmaker games, you need to have a community where opinions and merits are shared and formed, but you also need to have games.
Where did these rpgmaker games, that this award ceremony is based upon, come from?
Did these games all come from an assortment of rpgmaker sites from 2002-2006?
or were these games just rpgmaker games from gamingworld.net from 2002-2006?
...I'm asking this question because, I didn't get involved with the rpgmaker community till 2007 and like many new comers to RMN, they'll probably want context as to where in history the misaos awards fit in and took place - What the rpgmakers communities were like back then, what games people were playing etc.
Cause right now, it's weird to access queenscourt as a site and not only, not know the history behind the site's creation, but where these rpgmaker games, that queenscourt have given misao awards to, came from.
I have a question:
The Misaos were originally run by #rm2k on irc.dynastynet.net and hosted on The Queen’s Court Website (http://queenscourt.org/misao/) The winners of Misaos from 2002-2006 are still recorded on this website.RMN started the Misaos in 2006 and has run it since. (*Note there are 2006 Misaos winners on both websites.

Does anyone Remember RpgRpgRevolution? (Remembering RRR)
…I know I said no mean spirited stuff but…lol, it’s nice to know I can find some solace in the fact that, the Dooms series was just as hard to play through back then, as it is now. If anyone wants to take a shot at MISTERBIGT's magnum opus, "the voiced edition" is available on the archive thread:
Dooms 4: End Game - Voiced Edition (Non-RTP)(Temp Download)
I got it to work, but like TheGameArchivist, I definitely couldn't play through it.
It's not that it's a hard game, it's not that it's a bad game, it's just the content that makes it so challenging to play through.
It's definitely not the Eraserhead of rpgmaker games...but it's...it's something.
Kudos to anyone who can play through it.

Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic
Just a reminder to everyone. Awhile ago, TheGameArchivist, (HUGE contributor to this thread)
posted this really great and quick tutorial on how to quickly compile a list of rpgmaker games you have:
I'm going to add this small tutorial to first page in a couple of days, with a few small revision for the MAC, once I've tried it a few more times.
By following these instructions, you can very easily and very quickly assemble a list of rpgmaker games together without having to type in each entry by hand:
By the end of it, you should get a list that looks something like this and you can quickly copy and paste it here on this thread as many users have done in the past.
- So if you have any rpgmaker games lying around on your harddrive, definitely try this out - it saves a ton of time! and helps us quickly sort out how to fulfill requests.

Uploading List of Old Games Tutorial
If you have all your games in one folder, or even multiple different folders... You can go inside the folder and...
On WINDOWS
Hold shift and right click. There will be a context menu entry that says "Open command window here"
Select that. And a terminal window will pop up. Type in...
dir /a /b>game-list.txt
What that command will do is give you a listing of all the files & folders in the current directory and put them in a file called game-list.txt in your current folder. If you open that, you'll be able to see them. =)
On LINUX
On linux, you would navigate to the folder where you keep your RPG Maker games and type in ls>game-list.txt. That will do the same thing.
On MAC
Dunno. Probably same thing as Linux, due to it being based on Linux.
There are easier ways to do it if you have your games organized into multiple folders, but I don't feel like going into a scripting tutorial right now. But, I'll point you into the right direction. Look up FOR LOOPS for directories using either Batch (WINDOWS) or Bash (LINUX) and that'll point you in the right direction. =)

Hello.
I`ve been reading all posts but can`t find this game in any list ,so is it possible for me too (for all)to get a link to:The Lost legend IV:The guardian of light.
Absolutely! I apologize ❤, I thought I had added it to the masterlist, turns out it was just in a different directory:

The Lost Legend Iv: The Guardian Of Light by WonderSlime
Forum page on Dragon's Den
Please let me know if this was the game you were looking for, if you able to get it to work, or if you run into any problems on your end - I had to contact the creator to get a hold of this, and we had to sort of work together, to figure out how to get the game working again on modern systems.
Really cool friendly guy, probably one of the nicest rpgmakers I've ever met.
Previously, someone had asked for LLIV:The Guardian of Light, and it turned out this wasn't the game they were looking for at all, but another game entirely. So if this is in fact "The Lost legend IV:The Guardian of light." Let me know. People have been asking for this one for maybe 5-10 times over the past 10 years.
But yeah, if this is the game, be sure to also check out the rest of Wonderslime's games on RMN. The creator is a really COOL guy, I can't say this enough.
But yeah, again, I apologize profusely. Later today, I'll format/convert it and add it to the masterlist.
EDIT:
Done. Revising the above link with the new download.
- For anyone still wondering about the conversion tutorial, I'm working on that right now as we speak as well.
Ratings On Screenshots
author=InfectionFiles
This is really just a bad idea and not needed. Like fuck, just type "nice" if that's what you wanna say. It's not hard.
Yes, but here’s the problem with leaving a 4 letter comment, (EDIT:as Red_Nova has already kind of mentioned.)
Here's one example:
The ScreenShot Survival XX thread
Darken posted this really great animated gif, of something he's working on, that utilizers Cherry's new picture feature for rpgmaker2003.
But often what he has in development, probably isn't substantial enough to submit to the site yet. But he still wants feedback. So he submits it to the screenshot topic thread instead:
This picture got, maximum, maybe 5 comments before it got pushed off the next page, before everyone forgot about it - but It's a great example of what Cherry's new picture feature can do for rpgmaker2003 games, that people should see.
5 comments maximum, all each pretty much saying the same thing; that they liked it - it probably would've gotten more, but we'll never know, Because RMN's forum thread is setup with a 20 post page limit. So let's look at an example without this 20 post page limit.
Example 2:
JosephSeraph's animated loser.gif for his game Project HEAVEN'S DOOR.(which is no longer on the frontpage)
This is probably one of the best animated gifs I've seen this year for an rpgmaker game.
Maximum 7 comments, these comments are all varied and different, but unlike the last example, can be interpreted in many different ways, not necessarily stating whether they liked it or not.
We're not leaving four letter words here - no one has the time to leave a four letter word on RMN, because when people want to leave a comment on RMN, they often want to leave something substantial enough so the developer can pursue these ideas further, as seen in these examples.
saying "nice" 5 times in a row on the forum thread, not only clutters up the page but it discourages anyone from commenting on that particular work further, because it feels redundant and can be interpreted in so many different ways.
You'll also notice a glaring omission on this example: I haven't comment on JosephSeraph's picture yet - because I simply don't have the time to - but I still want him to know that I like it and I want to do so quickly and efficiently.
You guys need to understand something here:
Everyone comes from all different walks of life, and language can be interpreted in so many different ways: Not everyone is going to use the site in the same way you guys do or within the same amount of time, or even within the same language - that's why there really needs to be more options for this kind of feedback.
author=Liberty
Besides, I hate the idea of the front page becoming a case of circle-jerked thumbsing to each other. Then only the pretty-pretty-vapid would show up instead of everyone getting a chance to be seen.
...I can understand everyone's concern with this as well, but the truth is, this is already happening on RMN to a certain extent with how the buzz algorithm works - There are still many many games that are being buried through community involvement - this is always going to be a problem - even on Newgrounds.
So forget about the rating and correlating "good screenshots" on RMN, for a sec - What this new feature ultimately comes down, even if the Likes/Votes were self contained to the screenshot page itself is:
A developer logs into RMN and submits a screenshot, ultimately what they want to know is if anyone likes their work and how many.
With this new feature, now they'll know, and it will give them the motivation to pursue their ideas further. This is just more immediate and direct feedback for the developer, for those who don't have the time to do it.
In the time it takes me to make one comment on RMN, I could literally Like/Vote on 10 or 50 RMN screenshots a day. Because I really want you guys to know how much I like your stuff, you guys post some pretty great stuff - but without this feature, you're not giving me a chance to do that, my times very limited these days.
EDIT: Yea, I have to agree with Sooz and InfectionFile here, downvoting won't work on a site like RMN in particular.
Downvoting works on Newgrounds, because it's a rating that's 1 out of 5 and it's function is two folded: it's a way to regulate content, that's not up to the quality of the community/site but it's also way to accurately assess content - because bad content on newgrounds is eventually deleted; but there's always that opportunity and creative incentive to submit to new content for a better score.
With RMN, if there's an option to downvote pictures, I can see someone being unfortunate stuck with something like a -5 and the problem with that, is that there is no incentive to pursue the creative idea further - it just tells the developer that it's bad without telling them why and they're reminded of it, every time they log in.
What's going to happen is that, it's going be a lot like what happened to Dastrem, where even though his games were accepted onto RMN. He was eventually driven away, because everyone in our community told him his games were bad.
I believe I should reintroduce myself.
I don’t normally post in the introduction thread and I’m kind of swamped with stuff at the moment, (still working on the archive thread as well), so I’m gonna try and keep this short. But I just wanted to come in and say “Hi!”
anyon175 is a really cool guy. Guys, please treat him kindly.
I think the coolest part about being apart of RMN has always been, meeting people from all over the world, from all different walks of life – It’s sort of an opportunity you’d never really get a chance to have otherwise.
So, I’ll never forget when I was randomly searching French, German and Spanish rpgmaker communities I suddenly came across this video for O Calice Sagrado (an rpgmaker2000 game I think)
It was so incredibly different from the games I was use to seeing on RMN, it literally blew my mind! It was a lot like one of the rpgmaker games you’d use to see on GamingW back in 2007 that was just oozing with creativity .
And it turns out, this game was actually from the Brazilian rpgmaker community! So yeah, I’m just like, so happy and super stoked ❤ we finally got someone from the Brazilian rpgmaker community on RMN!
It’s moments like these where you realize, that we really should be reaching out to other rpgmaker communities in order to see what else is out there and form bonds in order to grow - we often may not speak the same language, but we do share the same interest, which is rpgmaker games.
But yeah, I’m just like super glad that you’re taking part in our community! and hopefully we’ll get to learn more about the Brazilian rpgmaker communities and their games as well!
Looking forward to this too!
It’s a really exciting time to be working with rpgmaker2000/2003.
EDIT: thanks again for the update on the archive list by the way; I’ll have to sort through it, but you’ve already found a lot of games that have been missing that I look forward to playing again – like the fourth demo for Name73
Happy to have you here anyon175! Welcome to RMN!

My skills are mostly programming, networking (in the computer network sense) and a little bit of cybersecurity. I'm most familiar with the old RPGMaker engines (RM95, RM2k, RM2k3), Unity and Renpy.
Most of the rpgmaker games I played were from old the RPGMaker communities, like A Blurred Line, Legion Saga, Ara Fell, Kindred Saga, Demon Legacy, Three the Hard Way, and other famous titles like these.
My most recent game, if you can call it that, is a game called Dual-Wielded, where I (try to) use 2 game engines at the same time to tell a story while you play in the other window... I think that's basically it.
Looking forward to this too!
