Basic Sprite

I like the idea of composites, but having a full and ready to use sprite without setting up composites will be very good for unique sprites or just to do quick tests.

SquareEnix announces it's going to make JRPGs again.

I haven't been following this company since FF12 (lolz). When did they stop making RPGs? What do they make now?

They make various highly polished tech demos that they can show off at an infinite number of conferences in order to dupe audiences and appease shareholders. FF15 is really coming guys, we promise! In the meantime, please enjoy Episode Ducat$ version 5.79a.

I guess what LockeZ said is also true. They make cell phone games, which sounds stupid, but the market for them is massive in Japan. People just can't get enough of their idol sims while on the go, I guess.

If you wanna play some old games, Legion Saga 1, 2, and 3 are good homages to Suikoden. Most people agree LS 2 is the best. You could play Exit Fate as has been suggested. It's a much more modern game, but I can't attest to how great it is compared to Legion Saga.

I'm not aware of any other Suikoden-styled games.

There are a ton of Pokemon fan games out there that are not necessarily limited to RPG Maker. Look around Google and take your pick.

Edit: For clarity Legion Saga is not hosted on this site. This RMN article will provide you with links: http://rpgmaker.net/articles/674/

[Poll] Where do you write your dialogue?

I keep it real and pants all my frikkin' dialogue like a champ, then collapse into a state of panic and mismanagement when I realize nothing makes sense. If you don't do things this way, you are not a true artist

Interestingly, what solved this problem for me was changing the scaling percentage to 150% or 200%. 20XX works with these options, but not 125%. In that case, this would just be a small issue that may affect ~1% of users?

RPG 20XX Engine

I'll give that a try later. Hopefully this issue will have a more permanent solution eventually!

A high DPI monitor has been the bane of my existence. They still don't have enough support to be worth the pricetag. At the end of this year I'm just going back to 1920x1080... Maybe in the year or so following, things will have caught up!

Windows 10? Should I update?

I have Windows 8.1 and am absolutely upgrading. Do you also have 8.1 (or 8?) Then you absolutely should do the same. Do you have windows XP or Vista? Upgrade.

Do you have Windows 7? Upgrading is a personal choice at that point. I liked 7, but I learned to live without it, and don't even miss it anymore. When Windows 10 is out, I'm not going to miss 8.

You don't need to immediately update to 10 either. Just wait it out and listen to the initial impressions about stability and security issues. If everything is a go, then you probably don't have much to lose, except extra money from your wallet.

RPG 20XX Engine

I'll try to put together something that visually communicates the problem tonight. (~4 hours) or so from now!

RPG 20XX Engine

I recently found an issue with the program not refreshing the editor properly if Windows is set to scale up more than 100%. I have a higher DPI monitor and have to set the scaling level to 125 in Windows 8.1 for anything to be readable.

Unfortunately, 20XX's editor dislikes me because of this! It runs much more slowly and the screen doesn't properly refresh unless I click somewhere in the window and force the screen to update the map trees, check boxes, maps, etc.

Hopefully windows 10 will deal away with scaling options, but until then I either have to test the program with barely any legibility or work while it is relatively unstable...
