Didn't post yesterday like I was hoping, so here are two more teaser screenshots~

These don't necessarily reflect any final locations in this game!!
Wow. Is that all custom? Because I am in pixel love.

They sure are. I've got a lot of work to do between my regular job and all the sleep deprivation, but I am hoping to have something much more cohesive in July!

I'm aiming for a middle ground between Intelligence, which is more or less a saturday morning cartoon, and Oddworld's realistic style.

Oddworld, huh. Didn't realize it at first. I guess I should have taken a cue from your other posts in here. I don't know how well the cel shading is serving you right now, but if it's your thing by now then maybe you just gotta keep rolling with it.

Uhhh here's another game I'm wotking on as a side project

That's the only map in the game.... No literally the whole game takes place in a bath

I am very disappointed this is not an ecchi game... RPG Makers are hungering, no- They're starving for ecchi of the highest magnitude, and with a name like Bathroom too!

@Magi if intelligence looked anything even close to how that does i'd probably be a lot more respected as a dev

but my game is uuuugly :(

ah well! im getting better
I am working very hard on improving, but I don't feel like I am getting even close to being considered skilled.. The biggest problem for me is I am working in a vacuum. I shoot my stuff to several art people here and there and get critiques and it's one of the major things that is helping me. I guess the lesson is to not create art in a bubble even if it opens you up to a lot of criticism.

I think the good thing about your visuals is that it has a definite style to it, which is something I haven't found for myself yet. I'm still playing it safe with colors and value ranges, but pretty soon I'm going to have to break out of that or I'll stop improving. The problem I see with your graphics is I am not 100% sure what kind of art style you want your game to have. I feel you want to go more into hand-drawn backgrounds like Legend or Mana or some of the Monkey Island games, right? Probably doing some traditional art and transitioning into the digital medium will start to give your project the look you're envisioning inside your head.

Let's keep improving together.

Any one still use the RM2k Classic RTP?

Despite having more details, the 2k3 RTP has always felt very muddy to me. This is probably the result of having more texture, but not necessarily a higher value range. A good example is how the trees and the grass tile don't stand out much from one another. This meant that even though there was better detailing, it wasn't necessarily any more pleasant to look at than the 2k RTP. I always preferred it because it reads so much better.

It's part of a lore/gossip mechanic where you input or learn keywords throughout conversations that can be used to potentially alter the dialogue path. There it's being used to cue the player that this NPC has a high likelihood to respond to information in the "Franklin Foundation" category.

I think that although throwing things like this in a player's face can seem condescending, you could have more than a hundred log keywords in an RPG. The other option depending on the circumstances, is brute forcing your logged information, which is even less engaging and intuitive. This highlighting I'm using can either blatantly reveal the keyword category verbatim or do so in a roundabout way. In the screenshot, it's pretty blatant. Both act like a little nudge forward, which can be very useful if the player is interacting with an NPC that they don't know on a name basis.

How do you think your current avatar affects your mood?

The Last Sanctuary is the name I gave to a file from an earlier version of Balmung Cycle. I can't remember the exact source, but it might have been this website: http://cyber-rainforce.net/english.html

I misplaced my midis and the files that list the sources, so it's a complete guess.
