I won't sit here and go on and on about why I can't script.
But trust me I can't.
I have an easier time making art than doing scripting.
It would be nice to be able to convince someone to help with scripting, but in my experience that's been like looking for a needle in a haystack.


Scripting is really, really easy. You just need to devote two months to learning Ruby then transitioning over to RGSS. You're not going to go make some dumb Yanfly suite afterward, but it still pays off in serious dividends.

Ignoring the ridiculous lego block aesthetic of the VX/A RTP, you would do better to just play any featured game which used graphics in that style instead of taking advice here. Something tells me you're more of a 'visual' learner.

In my baby days I opened up Legion Saga 1 and just rebuilt the maps until I 'understood' mapping. This is a fool-proof technique

I have had UI problems like that when using resolutions higher than 1920x1080, but haven't experienced it in the limited time I have worked with 1.10a.

Cherry made mention about some things like stats not being increased because the callbacks to it occur in too many parts of the editor/engine to be worthwhile. You can now have hundreds of pictures, so I don't see why tons of battle frames wouldn't be possible, but why would you need so many?

You keep using that word, but I'm not sure if you know what it means. Not everybody sees eye to eye or shares your world view/likes/shoe size. That doesn't make everybody a troll.

You need to grow a backbone or you're not going to make it in -art-. Glad to see you are at least moving on. Ja ne!!

I don't have any plans to use this software again but after thinking it over, it was my most important '.EXE' for maybe eight years straight. I'd like to pick up a copy when it's non-Steam to support further fixes and small enhancements. Reasoning is that RM2K3 is still a very viable tool for die-hard hobbyists and fledglings who just want to get their feet wet in this kind of software.

The program itself is not a "bonus". Nobody in their right mind is buying this strictly for the RTP. That's just silly.

Steam software is a major bummer, my VX Ace copy is tied to steam and it's a annoying having Steam integration on development tools.

It will be very interesting to see how Cherry and the others involved develop this decade-old software. It's a cool and spiffy engine B) but I can't justify a purchase since I can write my own scripts in Ruby/rgss. If an official DynRPG kind of feature somehow ever becomes a reality I will definitely reconsider. Good luck with wherever you take this and cheers!!

[RM2K3] What do you like best about 2k3?

Hi. 2K3 once was very prolific because at the time, few game authoring tools existed with such robust features and an ease of use. The community was also a big part of what made it good. It was stupid and awful, but filled with intrepid dreamers, fearless to use graphics ripped straight from Secret of Mana and re-brand them as "Korg's Deadly Adventure". I coveted that world, I suppose. It's been lost now, and as to what became of its inhabitants, none remain who know.
