MILENNIN'S PROFILE

I create games because I enjoy gaming, telling stories, writing dialogue and drawing. Making a game is all of those things combined into one. However, my greatest passion with game making is designing battle systems that require thought and resource management within battle itself. I'm always looking into improving my skills, so if you've played one of my games, please do leave a piece of feedback on my page.

LOL How many of us actually checked out the anime that others suggested ? :D

I'm going to check out Sword Art Online.

Customisation Level of the Player-Choosen Main Character

I'm a random visitor here, haven't played your game... but seeing as you already have a demo means you have done something with it already. What makes me curious is why you're asking what to do with the main character when you've already put out enough content for a demo game. I'd think a thing like this should be asked and decided upon before you even create your RPG Maker project.

So, what you're asking is whether the player character should be a personal, and customisable avatar, or if it should be a Final Fantasy character as the main character. Well, it really depends on what you want with your game. Having a personal avatar might be easier for players to connect with for those who're not familiar with Final Fantasy. Having a FF character in the lead would mean you can put a focus on character development during your story, which would be more interesting for those who are familiar with the franchise I'd guess.

In my opinion I prefer playing an established character, cause I like watching a character's story and seeing character development over the course of the story, even if I'm not familiar with the character at all, which I probably am not when it comes to FF. If you were to do this, it would be nice to add important background info on the character, so that even non-FF fans will be able to understand what's going on in your game.
I don't care so much for a personalised hero, unless it's a multi-player game and where I can show it off to my friends or something.

Sword Art Online is a good anime to watch if you like rpgs, action and a little bit of psychology.

Like .hack but with a focus on action?

RMN Anime

I'll list a few of my favourites here...

Dragon Ball Z
No anime thread is complete without a mention of DBZ. Things I like about the show is the very unique, and extremely recognisable art. It's pretty unique, whereas a lot of other anime comes over as pretty generic when it comes to their art. The fighting is good (well, duh). It's one of the few series that I actually prefer watching in English, the voice acting is cheesy, but cool. Great use of sound effects during battles for that extra explosive feel to it.
Bad points about DBZ is that the whole thing is just kind of dated, and you can see that in the quality, like using animations sparingly. The show is extremely slow paced, as in that it likes to throw a bunch of fillers at you between and even during every major battle. Probably a nice thing to watch while you're multi-tasking or something, because it'll keep you going for a long time with like 300+ (???) episodes in total. Story-wise it's nothing great. Just watch it for the fun stuff like the fighting or watching the characters develop over the course of the series.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
It's short, but very sweet. Basically it's 26 episodes filled to the brim with action and butt kicking with giant mechs. And by giant, I don't mean something the size of a building. Make it the size of a GALAXY and we're talking. So yeah, anyone who needs a good dose of action should watch this show. Art style is a love or hate I guess, it's fairly unique. What I like most about the art is the colouring, which is unlike any other anime I've seen (I won't claim to have seen 100's of series...) It just looks really nice. Animation quality is pretty nice as well, which is always a plus. The characters are fun, especially the main guy, he's totally awesome. Just watch it, you'll see what I mean.=P The story appears to be pretty simple, but if you look bit deeper into it, you'll notice some interesting themes that make it go a lot deeper than it looks at first sight. It's nice for those who don't care much about story and just watch action, but those who like a bit to think about can get it. Coming to a conclusion, I can't come up with a negative for this series. It's well-rounded, lots of action, good quality. It's just not for everyone.

Gundam SEED
Been a while since I watched this, but it's really good. It's a lot about the characters in an interesting settings (think futuristic world, mechs and a huge war), and has a pretty deep story that gives you something to think about. The art style is really nice, albeit a tad generic. Animations on the other hand are at a lower priority, which is a shame. Still, the nice art covers it up somewhat, so it's not too bad. I think the strongest point of this show, besides the characters and story, would be the music. It's really great, easily my favourite anime OST.=P
Length-wise it's nice, around 56 episodes I think. It doesn't have much, or any fillers at all, pacing is a bit slow, but nothing too bad. Worth checking out.

[2k3] Is there a way to track which hero is in which party slot?

You could probably create a parallel common event with a ton of forks that deals with every possible team setup, and assigns variables depending on which setup is being used.

RPG MAKER 2003/ How Would I Do This In My Game?

You could make it a fork, like this:

If Hero faces up -> Move event up
-If Hero faces right -> Move event right
--If Hero faces left -> Move event left
---If Hero faces down -> Move event down

[Poll] What type of Encounter Type is better in your opinion?

I dislike random encounters, but mostly because in RPG Maker games people tend to:
-Have the encounter rate way too high
-Not disable encounters during puzzles
-There's no way to avoid them

I can live with random encounters if the encounter rate is fair, if it gets disabled when I'm in the middle of a puzzle or something, and if there's effective ways to avoid them (like, not walking in the tall grass in Pokémon games).

Touch encounters in general are much better, though.

Which faceset?

Is the left one Neku?

Right one is better.

No, it's an original character me and my friend made like 12 years ago.

Thought experiment: surviving stuck in a basement for 10 years

If I were forced to:

-Computer (to continue making my game, lol)
-Internet (to talk to my friends, go on forums etc.)
-All computer games (won't get bored so easily)
-Skylight (would be nice)
-Microwave (I'm lazy when it comes to food)
