MOMEKA'S PROFILE

Hey, my name is Fredrik.
During the days I run a small game company with some friends.
On my spare time I like to tinker on weirder smaller stuff. In the past I've made some Gameboy games and I often participate in the Charas Community Games .
Here I will post and share everything I do with rpg maker.

[Poll] Give Liberty (or whoever does it) Ideas For Events

Random idea for RpgMaker: Make a game that has 1 map with the smallest size, you have to be able to win/lose. You must use tiles and default movement. No hacking it with pictures/scripts.

@Garbamesh: Love it as always. The world looks super fun to run around in!
And yeah, it's still rm2k3.

@Deckiller: That temple, holy shit, so good.

@SgtM: Looks great, I like that the updated tiles are much cleaner and easier to read and the colors are 10/10.
If I was going to nitpick: All other tiles have transition against other tiles except the brick road. It looks okay now, the only thing that feels a little bit off is the one pixel brick at the edge.

Working on some boss stuff. Here you are climbing on a ship.

(Gif a little bit choppy. Didn't seem to like to capture the fast in game animations.)

@Deckkiller: Not the biggest fan of time fantasy, but pure mapping it looks really nice. Looks really homely and fitting for a rural village.

@Orange: Looks great as always.

Some screens from the Grimp expansion:

@Corfaisus: That's a great use of the rtp. Looks lovely!

Built a map generator like last week or something, don't think I ever posted it here.

Here's an early progress gif:

Here's an almost finished version (I've added some more variation to the maps since this, but I'm too lazy to make a new gif):

Got any tips for someone who's also trying to do things Game Boy Color style?

Stick to the size restrictions of 16x16 on sprites. Break it only for really important stuff such bosses and such.

Pick you colors from other gbc games as it could only handle 16 bit colors there's a lot of colors it couldn't display.

Sprites could generally only have 3 colors as the 4th was used for transparency . Tiles can have 4 colors.

New tileset for the Catacombs and your followers now helps out in battles.

Also duel wielding projects at the moment cause I'm also working on a small Halloween expansion for Grimps. Here's the first stage of the expansion:

Also if you block the monsters path with an ice block it will use it to slide to safety.

Grimps: A Trailer

Hey Lord. Thanks for the all pointers! It's really helpful. But probably not going to do anymore with this right now, working on a small expansion for the game. Once that's done I'll make a new trailer with the new stuff in it as well.
But I'll keep this in mind.

Also I think you should write that article. It sounds like it could be really helpful.

Hazmat

Played the game and I enjoyed it! The art is great and it was fun walking around and exploring the island. It was the perfect size any longer and it would have gotten kinda tedious.

Good jam game.

Great gifs, the best is middle for me - this moving platforms look super. Although this modern retro indie style unfortunatelly is boring for me. This is not bad - but why most indie retro style games must look almost similar?

It's a quick and easy style to both produce art and maps in for a game I'm hoping to have a relative short development. Besides I enjoy working in it. Hopefully I can manage to make it look interesting anyway.

Edit: As for your title screen, I like it. But I think it would have a bit more "oomph" if you made the sword move in way faster and bring the background in when the screen have flashed full white. Everything feels too slow right now.

This is, like, ten screens from the same game! A new record! I can't wait to build a party of 7 Golden Knights and fist my way through a dark dungeon.

Thanks! I intend to get it done before the year ends.

@Visitor: That looks really nice. I'll have to give it a try.

@Garb: Oh shit, looks great. I love the Mode 7-ish scrolling effect on the world map.
