[RM2K3] How to make an intentionally terrible game?

I agree with Unity, I'm not sure why you would want to make a terrible game. Feels like a waste of time but here is my suggestions. Except the obvious of making it ridiculous hard, f'ing up the graphics etc. You could deny the player rewards, large dungeons with tough boss that hardly gives any experience or just some useless item. Side dungeons that result in nothing, quests that result in useless rewards or doesn't progress the story at all.

Something else that annoys me is a lack of feedback. Make skill and battle animations as plain and boring as possible, same with cutscenes, just have characters stand still and spew lines after line of dialogue at each other. Also, put ascii smilies in every line of dialogue.

Well worked some more on this thing.

The UI stuff at the bottom is temp. But I do like how it looks framed in.

@Kaempfer:
Glad you like the name. And I like the first screenshot but the second one is pretty noisy.

@Cap_H:
Yeah, I'm planning on doing a border as I want a smaller map size. But it's not going to be that small and it's not going to be a gbc.

@stardust:@Momemka:
Looking pretty nifty! I'm not too fond of the mismatched ground tiles in the first shot, but I'm really diggin' those skulls. Are you using a standard GBC palette?

Thanks, the colors are shamelessly taken from a Links Awakening DX dungeon.

I really like your gb graphs.

Was just playing around while bored, trying to make something with a gameboy color feel to it.

Those rocks tiles have been a pain in the ass, they still doesn't quite tile at some places.

Every game needs skulls.

This looks GREAT! Is all the animation done via charset poses?

Thanks, Kamau. Yeah everything except the blue flare thing when you shoot the orb, it's a battle animation.

@BadLuck Looks really nice!

@Frogge I love the graphics, the only thing is the canopy feels a bit too flat, looks more like it's ground tiles.

Worked a bit more on this
