President Trump

physically assaulted for wearing the MAGA hat in the wrong place? No, you don't think it's bad. You will say so to appear anti-violence, but in the end, if you've terrorized your opponent into silence and inaction, you win.

Tell me what's gonna happen to a person wearing a hammer and sickle hat in the wrong place in America, then. Somehow, I think they'll find a range of "wrong places" to be much larger then those in MAGA hats.

This is not Trump vs the good and pure perfect little people. This is two supergroups of people in America who are irreconcilably in disagreement on two things:

"Our" cultural values, brought to its logical conclusion, is utopia. "Theirs" is the end of civilization. This is not reconcilable. It doesn't help that Dyhalto calls me a redneck for wanting a physical border wall (NOT a new or unique concept), but even if he wasn't name-calling, there'd be no common ground at this point because it's become clear we simply don't have any shared goals.

Trump could quit tomorrow and this cultural war would rage on.

And this is why I find the Chinese and Iranians are onto something with the one-party state. Then again, I haven't lived in either of those places, but I lived in Australia and can tell its compulsory voting also provides a decent check on such tendencies while keeping the multi-party system. Hell, the French two-round also seems to have some merit by providing true choice across the spectrum, for this election at least (anti-EU left, pro-EU liberal left, liberal centrism, Thatcherist right, protectionist anti-EU right). Some country ought to try and see what happens when the three aspects are melded together.

If you were alive in 1930, and were not a time traveller who had knowledge of the future, it would in fact be morally wrong to stop Hitler's free speech. There's no question.
Okay everyone, pop quiz!

Which of the following two things is more wrong?

A. Violating Hitler's Freedom of speech
B. Hitler murdering 6 - 12 million people.

Irrelevant question, given that he's already served a jail term before entering the government. The fact it wasn't large enough, or that German elites saw it fit to appoint him Chancellor post-contested election, after he was convicted for trying to lead a violent coup against them a few years earlier, is neither here nor there.

Guild Raider! Review

author=psy_wombats

Machine alternates between regular attacks and the magicannon. Machine-R restores HP and Machine-L recharges the cannon, so killing them is usually a good idea, but killing the main body of the machine should be enough to win the fight.

I did defeat it - but only a few turns after it killed the last of the support characters, so I got "Game Over" immediately after seeing "Machine defeated" message. This is why I said a bad ending would be more appropriate here.

Progression of the game depends on you

Hi, just wanted to tell you that I downloaded the demo now, and I should have a review up in about a week or so.

You're creating an impossible situation. I'm civil. I'm not picking fights. But you're going to say I'm uncivil and picking fights. It doesn't matter what I do.

And you're going to get away with it because you're in the majority. And you're going to get away with posting memes from the 1990's.

You know, I think I'm starting to understand what "right-wing victim complex" refers to in the West. I mean, seriously, I'm Russian, where we operate on a whole other political spectrum, and yet somehow I've been posting on here quite fine.

I'm asking for you to justify the left's propensity to burst into riots and violence lately. You cannot even do that. All you can do is be shitty. You have no arguments, you have no thoughts. Only being shitty.

And this here, is exactly why identity politics is a dead end: it creates loose groups, and then ascribes every member of said group a responsibility to respond to the actions of any other member of it, regardless of how remote they might be from each other. This is as stupid and pointless as "White women elected Trump" posters at Women's March: it creates collective responsibility where there is no true collective in the first place. No one can speak for all of "white women" even in USA, and no-one can speak for all of "the left" there either. Consequently, nothing anyone writes on this board is going to have any bearing on whatever happens on that campus or on the streets elsewhere.

Not Sure if anyone's noticed...

Speaking on the whole topic of games being reworked post-release, there actually was an indie game which did this last year, somewhat successfully. It was called Slain!, it was a hardcore action platformer styled after metal albums, it got kickstarted back in 2013 (I think that was the year I saw it), and its original release last spring was a complete failure due to broken controls, balancing and such. However, the creator did manage to fix these by the end of the year, and re-release it as Slain: Back to Hell. Here are the Metacritic pages of both versions for comparison. The sales also weren't ultimately too bad, and he did manage to get a reputation for being hard-working and able to stick at changing a game and turn it around. He probably still dreams what could've been if he got it right the first time, of course, but it could've been much worse.

There were also the Enhanced Editions/Director's Cuts of the "New Golden Age" Kickstarter CRPGs - Shadowrun: Dragonfall, Divinity: Original Sin, Pillars of Eternity, and Wasteland 2, which often changed quite a lot as the result. Of course, all of these games were well-received in the first place, so it's a rather different matter (with the semi-exception of Wasteland 2, since it did disappoint a subset of its backers while being generally praised, and the Director's Cut did a decent job of addressing that.)

@ Corfaisus: I can see where you're coming from with your sentiment, but I'm a little unsure what I'm being accused of here. I mean, does "you have no right to interfere with their life post-review" really apply when this is the third (3rd) post I've made in this thread (including the OP) and have repeatedly expressed that I'm happy for nothing to change and wait for the wider public & the market to decide? I'll also quote from the first post I wrote under my own review (which was 7th or even 9th post there, btw):

Thing is, I had mostly positive responses so far, with a few rough edges that I thought I'd addressed over time.

Like I said, that's good. The burning question, of course, is whether enough outside players will share their view. I've seen warnings on some development blogs before that early followers can be a self-selecting group that might not be a good representation of the actual playerbase upon release. I suppose we'll only know this for sure once it releases. For now, best of luck, I guess.

I mean, can this really be construed as "active interference"? In fact, after this post, I quietly assumed nothing much was going to change with the game and was ready to move on. That is why I was so surprised to see the gamepages taken down, and why I felt I had to make a thread about it.

Old school RMers: what are some communities that you used to belong to that have ceased to exist?

SegNin diligently downloaded all of them.

So, we just have to wait for him to upload whatever is not here already?

"First you get the makerscore, then you get the power, then you get the women I find quite amusing actually." Haha.

But it's a good overview. Wouldn't miss those.

Edit: Looking over the list on first page. Yeah, many better ones there, throw it out~

Yeah, I agree with this.

As for my favorite quotes, I happen to like the almost poetic tone of "Life is turn based. Your turn." the most. Though, "Makerscore is a good measure of your worth as a human being" always gets me to snicker every time I see it. And of course, "There does not need to be a reason beyond maguffins. "Thing there, go get," has been a tried and true videro game plot for decades." is pretty special to see, since it was directly said to me by Sooz back when the discussion of Wyrm Warriors veered into conversation on whether games need a story.
