You Are Not The Hero! Review
author=RyaReisender
If anything I'd see story as an exception, because you can just skip that. Graphics can't really be avoided.
It really depends on where the focus of a game is. If it's largely story-driven, then no, you can't really skip the story. And no, graphics aren't as important as you make them out to be, as enough games use rather mediocre graphics and still draw their audience in.
Dumb or Daring?
Dumb. Definitely.
1. This game is an hour long, estimated by you. That does not mean that an average player gets through it in an hour.
2. There's always other factors that can cause the player to have to stop playing. That's okay for a ten minute game or something that doesn't really have lasting progress. But not for something longer.
3. Your reasons are no reasons at all. The only effect you'll strengthen is the "screw it" effect. You can build tension in fragments, if you can capture the player well enough. Also, having to replay everything when you have to start over only makes the parts played before more tedious and/or boring. So, theoretically, there'd be less investment. If the player picks it up again at all.

shatatomyo is right. You should probably get a native speaker for beta-reading, or at least someone who grew up with English.
I think I'll play this version later on, though, just to compare with the German one.
Also, if you're not using the mouse, aren't the "buttons" a bit too big?

Planned character roster
Are these promotions actually going to do something? Aside from changing the class name and unlocking a few new skills (especially since you already get new skills from leveling up)?
Also, what's the difference between having no promotion and already being promoted?

Tristian: Lady of the Lion
Are you drawing these portraits yourself? If yes, you might consider giving them a wider emotional range than "eyes open" and "eyes closed".
Also, is there a reason why I can only skip half the cutscene before the attack of the elder mages?
By the way, is there a trick to beating these guys before they kill Tristan?

The base for the map graphics is the Theodore style, yes. It's kind of a staple for RM horror games (at least in Germany), but I really like the way it's used here, with all the custom graphics and parallax mapping.
The room you're talking about is a 1:1 remake of the same room in Neun, though. Not sure if Tasuva was inspired by TAUT.
