Square-Enix needs to financially hit rock bottom so that Mistwalker can buy the rights to Final Fantasy.

I don't think that SE will hand over the rights to the series, not so easily. I think that then would even be opposed to handing it to Mistwalker especially since there's the series' founder and I don't think that SE would survive under the weight of criticism and death threats if Sakaguchi-directed game would be way better accepted than recent FF titles. After all, "After the confirmation that an Xbox 360 port of Final Fantasy XIII would be released in Japan, CEO Yoichi Wada received death threats from angry fans accusing him of being a liar."* so you see: they would consider handing the series to Sakaguchi the 'ultimate death sentence' for the company and they certainly doesn't want to dissolve.
But well, that's just my opinion.

Now there's this Final Fantasy XV thing going on which will either save the franchise with undoubtedly highest budget a game would see or it will bury the series. Also, at one point Nomura wanted to make Final Fantasy XV a musical which would pretty much bury the series years before the game would be released.

Oof. I thought this review fell somewhere down to the bottom of the planet and was lost forever. ;P

Also, "I'll Protect Her With My Life" line is taken from "Yeul's Theme" from Final Fantasy XIII-2 (although in the original version it's "I'll protect you with my life"). The reason why I chose this line how Zephyr-Winter/Ezra reminds me of Lightning-Serah connection. I'd spoil a bit, but I don't want to ruin someone Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and I'm kinda sure that the thing I'd mention was an intentional one.
