Summer Screenshot Spectacular!

@tardis: I am blind tooooo. That being said, it's a lovely map, I don't see too many people using the FF6 vector town sets (or maybe I don't notice it) so a plus for that. Almost makes me feel like going up and going pipe walking there. Excellent job though!

Yep, facesets are custom drawn for me. The one on the right is temporary until I get the faceset to replace it. :3 Glad you like the graphical style!

Summer Screenshot Spectacular!

Haha, yes. I've received a good amount of feedback on the game so I'm going to address those, and have some beta-testing (something the original game didn't have other than me) and peoples opinions on the system before I continue the game.

The HUD values such as HP/SP and limit are non functional yet. That wouldn't take long to do but I just haven't gotten around to it since I was doing other planning.

Invisible person, because their sprite is not done. I'll have some customs for the enemies as well, that'll be later. Basically you can walk a few steps, attack, open the menu and use an item/spell/limit or end your turn. I want it to be something pretty simple, but that works better than the old game did and without the bugs.

Time again, the NPCs?

Dammit Silviera, you stole'd my post.

I'm not an amazing NPC writer, but I do believe that the party should interact with a few of the NPCs, and not just have it be a one way conversation. I have a personal like of having the NPCs be also used for a gameplay purpose, whether it be recruiting them, them giving you quests, giving you items and stuff like that. You could probably think of things like choosing which character you want to interact with the NPC as well, and then get a different response because of the different personalities.

And I love NPCs that have silly replies.

Paradise Blue Review

Yeah, only one of them, and once. :3

I was surprised, I was thinking it'd be lower, but I'm happy. It's good to think about though, I've been trying to examine myself and from other comments on what I did right and wrong so I know for next game. Thanks for taking the time to review it, i know you were busy.

As a reference, yeah a lot of the graphics are custom made by me. I got concept art for the monsters and then I sprited them all. The magic effects are part custom too (The elemental spells and the Summons are an example), though some are rips. The chips are part edits part custom (Candycanes!). The battle backgrounds are mostly custom. But yeah I'd say the biggest custom graphic part was the monsters.

Music was mostly custom me, with my friends helping me with a few songs (the battle song, the Ocean battle v3 song, and a major boss song). I found it didn't seem to stand out to most people. I'm not an amazing composer but I think I'm gonna seriously give some thought to the next soundtrack because I personally believe music is a very important part of the game.

Definitely getting a writer to help with future games, but I had established that I wanted to do that before. It's my weak point :<

I'm wondering about level design. I wanted relatively open areas so that you can avoid monsters and not be forced because you have no where to go. I'm not a big fan of puzzles either though I wouldn't mind minigames or even just some quirks in a map. But what would you recommend?

Silviera's Review Requests

Eh, I'll give this a try. If you have some free time, would you be able to do Paradise Blue?

Paradise Blue was released in the 29th of July

Paradise Blue

Azure Ocean, it'll be sort of like a remake of Island Sky.

There is some info there, but basically it's a sort of simple tactical RPG in RMVX.

Paradise Blue

Thank you! I'm no writer, which is why I'm thinking of having someone help me with the writing for my next project. That'll be much later in the future though, I need to finish pixel projects first!

Complete

haha, exceeeellllleeeennnttt

I'm glad to hear that really, it's nice to hear that you're enjoying it so far. Lemme know what you think when you finish it!
