Improving Basic Attack and Guard Functionality

Honestly, basic attack and guard are the first things to go in any battle system I'm working on. They just never really fit with me.

There are guard-like skills and attack-like skills when it makes sense for the character. Maybe it's the genericness of the shared attack/guard command that drives me away.

I feel your second picture is perfect. The font + color fits the vibe I'm getting from the character portrait. The white font might be a bit bright.

A little question: There's only one thing I haven't seen in the game (yet? maybe I missed it?) which is being able to change our character's clothes. I would love to be able to pick a different (more cool) outfit for my hero! XD


Definitely on my mind. I even have the clothing salesman planned out. I'm currently in the cut content so I can actually finish the game stage, and character outfits are in the nice to have list, so no guarantees, but I'll try to squeeze this one in ;)

PS: I almost forgot! I came across a script error when claiming the winning ticket at the beginning of the game (I think I didn't even had Sita in my party). I'm not sure what was the cause really but later in the game, after I was already a bit further along (after having recruited Sita and Ezekiel) I tried to claim it again and that time it worked without any issues.


Thanks for the bug report! I feel like I might have stumbled across that one and fixed it, but I'll double check.

I like how there's steam curling off the water as the magma hits it, but you'd also get at least a bit of a growth of black, hardening lava at a spot like that.


You know, I was thinking the same thing. Though I was totally trying to get away without doing the art asset for it ;p

But if people are taking notice, I'll have to get around to it.

The furniture system is probably the thing that's been improved the most since the demo. This reminds me, I should totally make a blog post covering the changes.

What about spending more time on how the maps are composed? For example, that top right map doesn't really have anything to see, and as far as I can tell, nothing to do gameplay wise.
