RAMZA'S PROFILE
I've spent a large part of my 26 years designing video games, mostly in my head. When I discovered RPG Maker 2000, I finally had a medium to put my thoughts down into, and I did.
At the time of its release, Mana Conquest was massive - even a ten hour long game was insane in those days, and the graphics kind of sucking was generally overlooked, due to the scope of the project.
Several years since, and I'm a bit embarrassed concerning how bad the first game really was. I've tried to fix that in the sequel, but between when I started, and now, there have been three new RPG Makers, and since they don't allow backwards compatibility, I've been stuck on RM2k3. Shameful.
I've come too far to quit now, though.

Raiders of the Lost Arcade
There was this super old computer game I used to have when I was little, that was actually older than I was (I think). Buck Rogers; countdown to doomsday. I had only played it a few times, because the system requirements were too high for it to run on my old tandy 1000, and I had to install it on a windows 95 machine that I only got to use once every couple of months.
The game was a turned based strategy rpg, and looking it up recently tells me that it was based on some D&D engine that I didn't know about until much more recently. For that game, the problem isn't that it looks bad, and that prevents me from playing it, it's that I no longer have the disks to install it, nor can I find a download copy.
Also, the very early king's quest and space quest games. I don't think I need to say anything about these.

Need some thoughts...
What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?
I have acquired 'Record of Agarest War' for the 360. As best I can describe it, it's like Final Fantasy Tactics meets ragnarok online's graphics meets a dating sim game and had a three-way baby.
Cutscenes play out like a dating sim, which is pretty bad, but the rest of it is pretty fun. Seems like it's going to be a very long game too, which is good, because I like my tactical rpg's long.

use the power mode hack thing.
Then you can display a picture based on a variable, and only need to use one line of code for each stat.
I have no idea where you can get it, but it's around here somewhere.

rm2k3 Arrow Keys Don't Work
If you have a joystick or pc gamepad plugged in, sometimes they can interfere with the keyboard input from rpgmaker. If you have one or both of these, try unplugging them and trying again.

post=136337-Extreme character customization, you can choose which stats a character becomes good in, and what magic spells they learn. Built-in limits prevent powergaming by maxing out all stats. Can you choose character race, class, name or gender?
ehh, no.
Perhaps extreme may have been a bit too strong as a descriptor. The player is allowed to change statistics, and skillsets of the heroes to virtually anything they want, but name changing or race changing isn't possible, because these characters are all hardcoded into the storyline of the game. Perhaps I should reword it and say "as much customization as you could ever hope for in a game about a finite amount of set characters". But that really doesn't have the same ring to it, now does it?

I agree with what was mentioned about Grandia. Everything about that game was awesome. Even the voice acting, while hilariously bad in some cases, had it's charms.
Tell Craze: Why is your RPG Fun?
My current project is fun, at least in my opinion, because of the following:
-Extreme character customization, you can choose which stats a character becomes good in, and what magic spells they learn. Built-in limits prevent powergaming by maxing out all stats.
-A snarky main hero that a lot of people should be able to relate to, and if not, his conversations and asides when examining things should make you chuckle, at least.
-Change party system allows you to switch in and out any of the 24 playable characters in the game. Choose the ones you like, or the ones you hate, or choose characters that hate eachother's guts and watch the shit hit the fan!
-Party banter system and interjections make sure that a player-selected party member will always have something to say. He may strike up a conversation with another party member, the main character, or even interject his opinion into dialogue the hero is having with an npc. This ensures character development beyond what is normally seen in an RPG with so many main characters.
-Huge world to explore.
-an epic "save the world" storyline, in a not so typical world.
There's probably more I can add, but I'm kind of sleepy, so I'll leave it at that.
