Private game page upload question
If I upload a private game page and it stays private for a while like say a two weeks or a month or more, once I make it public will it still be featured as a new game on the front page?
Unfinished RPGs
What RPGs have you played long ago but never finished? Feel free to include RPG maker games.
Breath of Fire IV - This is one of the few games on this list I'd really like to try beating. I'm honestly not sure why I never finished it. Guess I got busy with other stuff. I remember loving Breath of Fire III as a kid so, one day I'll try to finish this game. I'll probably start up a new file though because it's been many years since I last played.
Lunar 2 - I sorta rage quit it. Lunar 1 was awesome played it all the way through and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lunar 2 was good too but at some point in the game I got to a dungeon that just went on and on and on. The dungeon was so big that I just said screw it and never played again.
Skies of Arcadia - One of the few Dreamcast RPGs. I enjoyed the first few areas of the game but never got to finish it. Again I got busy with other stuff. Part of the reason I didn't continue was that I heard people saying the story was horribly generic.
Shadow Hearts - Like BoF IV I might want to revisit this game one day it was pretty interesting. I just for whatever reason never finished.
Baten Kaitos Origins - The first Baten Kaitos was great played the whole thing I recommend it to any RPG fan. The sequel however had a new battle system that I hated so I stopped playing early on.
Final Fantasy II - (not to be confused with FF IV my favorite FF) Final Fantasy II is the only FF game that I have started and not finished I've tried beating it 2 or 3 times but something always happens to make me lose my save file. I got really far too. But whatever I can live without seeing how Firion and friends save the day.
Opoona - Said to be a hidden gem RPG on the Wii. In reality its kinda so-so.
D for Dungeon - I usually finish RPG Maker games that I play but I stopped playing this one. D for Dungeon is a very well constructed game and it's very addictive. But it openly admits to not having much story. So, after a while I just stopped. I think this game is worth playing for a bit but unless you just love grinding in RPGs its not seemingly worth finishing. This is not a review though. This is more like impressions. I would only review something I finish. If this game did have comical dialog and story to go along with the fact that you are a baby going through a dungeon than I would finish it.
There's a couple of other RPG maker games that I started and then quit on but I don't think they had as many redeeming qualities as D for Dungeon.

I feel horrible
Please let me vent for a bit.
Due to a recent back injury I'm living with back pain constantly. I'm trying to make a new game but I can barely sit and do it. I can't sit for more than 15 minutes without pain. Standing for to long isn't great either. Walking used to help and still does to some extant but even that can be painful now. I'm constantly icing my back taking pills. I'm in and out of the doctors office all the time. I'm in so much agony. I'm tired of this damn pain dictating my life!
Thanks for listening.

Design a world around a character or design a character around a world
I been working on a new game and an interesting problem arose.
The main character of this new game is someone from my previous game who happens to have a very large hair style. When I had her go through a door way, I noticed the sides of her hair didn't quite fit and went through the edges of the door. I suppose its not a big deal but I thought maybe I can do something to fix said visual glitch. My first idea was to make the doors of the game wider (design a world around a character) but there are plenty of short haired people in the world to. So I'm thinking a better solution might be to have certain narrow doors scrunch her hair. Which would just require a certain animation for the character(design a character around a world).
Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts.
Would you rather design a world around a character or design a character around a world?

What's the best way to release a game?
I'm working on a new game. Last time I made a game page and almost immediately uploaded a completed game. I had to release a number of updates in months that followed due to glitches and a need for feedback from community members.
It's most recent update was a really good one and even though I'm still open to updates I think this version is something I can be proud of. But my first game had a rocky start so ...
For my new game I'm thinking I'll make the game page upload a tester demo than release a public demo later. But I'm not sure if that's the best way to do things either. Will people lose interest if the uploads take too long. But I really want to do a demo first because the main game might take me a long while to make.
So as the title asks,
What's the best way to release a game?

French Cartoons are Awesome
The first French animation I ever saw was Fantastic Planet it's incredibly trippy.
Tales of the Night was very interesting it's about 3 people imagining stories that take place all around the world. It's the most recent French film I've seen.
My personal favorite is Kirikou and the Sorceress. It's about a talented baby named Kirikou who defends his village from an evil sorceress. It takes place in Africa.

Every Final Fantasy Fan should see this Video
This is a video that takes a comical look at the history of Final Fantasy and the career of it's creator Hironobu Sakaguchi
And it actually stars Hironobu Sakaguchi
I watched that 3 times today.
If that's not enough Final Fantasy goodness for you check this video out.
It's an in depth look at Square's early history. There is a part 2 to the video but I'm sure you can find that without me posting it.
Also, if you want to see more of The Gooch. Check out this hour long interview with Sakaguchi.

Final Fantasy XV
Let's have us a little chat about FFXV, old beans.
I do say I'm rather unsure how I should feel about this game.
I've played most of the games in the series you know but I find myself not being too excited. Which is odd since the open world looks amazing, the combat seems jolly good, and the fact that their re imagining the old Amano designs for some enemies is breathtaking if I may say so.
But here's what concerns me; what's with the samey looking characters? I find it rather perplexing considering how diverse FF casts have been in the past. Where's the summoner girls, the talking dogs, the wacky old men, and the spoony bards.
Perhaps the character designs are the way they are because of the mafia theme they seem to have givin XV. That too concerns me, you see I've watched my fair share of Mafia films and although I've enjoyed those I never thought: oh this would be perfect for Final Fantasy.
I do hope I'm worried about nothing old chaps. I do really wish for it to be a great game.
What are your thoughts on the new Final Fantasy?
I don't know why I just wanted to talk like a Britsh guy. I love that accent, hope I didn't offend anyone.

Has anyone ever made a Minecraft like game on RPG Maker?
I imagine it'd be pretty difficult to make a game like that. Every tile on the map would have to be an event. That would cause major slow down. Plus, there would have to be many switches involved with memorizing everything the player changed in the world. I know from experience because I experimented with making a customizable house with various decor options in my game and decided that was to time consuming for a bonus area of the game. And even that would be easier than a full on Minecraft like game. You'd also have to deal with randomly generated maps and monsters which I believe is possible with RPG Maker but still challenging.
The crafting system should be pretty easily doable although I could be wrong.
Any torch event would have to be able to influence other events around it in order to keep monsters away. That would be tough to do. Although perhaps I'm thinking of the wrong solution to the torch problem.
You'd also have to figure out some kind of water flow mechanic.
I'm sure there are tons of other issues as well.
To be fair though said game doesn't have to have all of the same mechanics as Minecraft so not all of these issues would necessarily factor into a hypothetical Minecraft inspired game.
