I like it! Nice and simple. You are still going to have a walkable world map though, right? Instead of going for a screen that just shows locations and paths with this as the backdrop. I would hope so, anyways. A lot of RPGs that don't take place over the whole world seem to take the route of dropping the map screen.

By the by, what did you use to make this? Just photoshop? I've been having some trouble updating the world map for Neo Lescia for a while now- every time I try to redraw it I end up ruining the shape of the continents or misplacing them. If I could put together something like this I might be able to build upon what I already have laid out a little better.

The 'NO FUTURE' attack from the final boss of T260G's plot of SaGa Frontier is infinitely more intimidating than FF7's Super Nova. Youtube it and check it out. It's an interesting case study on subtle vs. flashy in presentation in games.

FF7 has a pretty crud final boss anyways. Bizarro Seph is cool but the One Winged Angel thing always felt phoned in to me. If I had the time to sit down and think about it I could probably find tons of cases where a final boss was way scarier because of what it could do.

Back.

Nice to see that you're back in action!

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

I share your concerns, Ratty. I really, really disliked X, which is startling considering how much I love Pokemon in general and how batshit crazy I was about the excellence of B/W & B2/W2.

I've talked with a couple of friends about it, and the best answers we can come up with are the fact that they spent most of their money/effort on making 700+ 3D Pokemon models, not to mention everything else they needed to do update to bring the series into 3D.

The other problem is that we figured they focused too much on pleasing the "MLG" players and updating the meta for competitive shit- think about not only Mega Evolution alone, but the fact that nearly every Pokemon that CAN Mega-Evolve is a favourite among competitive teams.

The clutter of Pokemon in the region is also due to that- I think they added most of the stuff that people use in competitive play into the wild to make it easier to get the teams set up. That's also why you can directly EV train within the game, because so many people preferred to use external tools to get EVs beforehand.

I could go into more detail but I'd rather not spoil anything for you. It was just disappointing- but hopefully it opens the gates for a good Hoenn remake or something.

Dammit, why are horns so hard to make look good in pixel art!? >_o

It only just occurs to me that I've literally never done a pair of horns before. That's weird.

Pandora's Present

Byah, you are my hero.

Seems like we're doing good with claiming usernames. Congratulations!

Hey guys. I've been meaning to ask about this for a while now, but only just decided to get around to it. I already collected a bunch of 3DS Friend Codes from the people around here, and I was going to ask about PSN IDs, since I recently bought one after not having it for a few years.

Mine is PizzaTheFace, surprising nobody.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Oh, believe me, that's why I want to play Ni no Kuni (and it is what I'm doing next). I own several collections of fairy tales, and grew up watching Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics on VHS tapes that I came across. I'm a huge fan of that storytelling method. I played a few hours of it before and besides a cumbersome battle system it was stunning.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Just finished Tales of Xillia. Bleh. A really weak entry in the series.

I'm gonna do a quick run through Milla's story to see if it comes off any better- my friend, who was a fan of the game, had been playing as Milla.

Other than that, next up on the list is Atelier Ayesha... Or perhaps Ni no Kuni?
