What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Yeah, Mirror's Edge was just fine as it was (could be better, but it was fun for me), and I got the bonus map pack which is just great. Nothing like trying to beat your own shadow by 1 second while jumping 300 meters above ground in awesome abstract levels, trying to find the best path.

I'd try to stay on topic but... not much to say, DF with lazy newb pack and maydays tileset, plus inFamous 2... gaming is good nowadays.

And I don't understand the people whining about the new voice actor, his voice fits Cole perfectly.
it's mostly because the voice doesn't sound the same ever

like the guy doing the new voice will sometimes imitate the old voice, sometimes do something different, sometimes just be nasally and annoying

for real, it never sounds the same twice in a row

Well, they fired the first one because of something he did IIRC, and while some people might not like the fact that it's different, I don't mind, and IMHO his new looks and voice fit the setting. New Marais is much more colourful, as is Cole, in the first game everything was dark, there was like 1 sunny day, and the whole city (and cole himself) was gray and bland, not to mention Cole in the first game was pretty dark and rough character, even when playing with good karma. He sounded more badass, I admit.

Anyways, since I got my friend to play DF, I'm back into it, and with Dwarf Therapist it's really easier to keep track of dwarves and their labors. He already experienced some of the crazy details in the game, like his woodcutter lost his axe, took off all his clothes and then died of thirst even though there was enough water. No idea why though :D

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Finally, inFamous 2. It arrived today, and I am already loving it much more than the first, they really took what was good and added cool new things, and polished it all..... Bravo Sucker Punch, looking forward to their next game. And I don't understand the people whining about the new voice actor, his voice fits Cole perfectly.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Aaah that clears up few things, thanks for the quick reply :D

After playing around a bit I figured that the reason he couldn't do 2 attacks anymore was because his weapon broke (goddamn developers, I HATE when they add item breaking in their games, making me NOT want to use them), which I didn't even notice. I now buy spare version of weapons when I shop.

Also, figuring out the skill system, spending CP all over the place, and just a moment ago I noticed you can also spend them to change character traits for better hero level... argh, still don't understand a few things, but hopefully I will figure them out in the long run (imho they could have extended the tutorial a little, but I guess many issues are solved by having the manual)

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Also playing Valkyrie Profile, loving the battle system, hating the voice acting :D
Few questions tho':

1) When I got Lewa.... uhm the archer guy who his 18 and still sounds like a girl, he had 2 AP, and could attack twice, and suddenly, he only has 1, what happened?
2) What happens if I keep the artifacts I find instead of sending them to Odin?
3) One time when I could do special attack, all 4 party members could do it, but after I used it with one of them and could do it once more, only 1 of the 3 remaining party members had his button flashing and could do it, what prevented the others from doing it?
4) What are magic gems for?

Anyone can asnwer these? Thanks in advance.

check your PMs, SmileWithStyle~

Thanks again for that link, IT WORKS! No display freezes during battle anymore, so I can finally play. There were some places where the game slows down during exploration, but nothing gamebreaking. Playing on Hard.

...And I actually really like Lenneth's voice. Although... she may very well be the only voice I actually like in the entire game. Lol.

Yeah Lenneth's(and Freya's) voice are somewhat well done and don't make me want to hit my head against a wall (Frei's voice for example, OH MY GOD, luckily it seems I won't hear her too much). Though I would still like an option to turn OFF the voices, and just read the dialogue.

Well, I was playing on normal difficulty, was liking the battles, the battle system, and the graphics are charming, but for some reason, the display sometimes freezes during battle indefinitely until I attack or it get's unstuck itself, I can hear the game, can hear when I move through the item menu, but the display is stuck.

And since it's happening a lot, it kinda breaks the game for me, which is a shame, looked like fun... but seriously, the VA is BAAAD. Anyways, I tried it in PSX 1.13, and also in 1.7 after reading that it should run flawlessly there, but still no luck. I might try ePSXe, but I hate setting that up and getting all the plugins, and selecting the right ones. Besides, PSX emulates the PS1 faithfully, and everything ran without any problems so far, so it's either some bad rom (doubt that) or my PC is trying to piss me off again :/

EDIT: And now Google.com is down, so I cant search for ePSXe or some info about the game running on that.... arrrgh who is doing this to me

I find it fun, though others may disagree. But then again that can be said about near everything, can't it? Lol. Basically, speaking only of the battle mechanics, you assign a character (of which there are a lot of) to the Triangle, Square, Circle, and "X" buttons in battle. Pressing one of these buttons initiates the corresponding character's attack, all of which are different. The goal is to chain their attacks together to form combos that will relinquish crystals, treasures, and orbs from enemies that will lower the CT bar's wait time. This is essential for your mages, because after the initial casting of a spell they'll be waiting a long time to make a proper move again if you don't acquire enough orbs.

Let's say this: it's fun in the way the Star Ocean, Tales of-, etc. games are, which is to say semi button-mashy without THAT much thought depending on what kind of a player you are.

There are 3 endings however (each with its own final boss... but you don't want to get the "C" ending, lol) and roughly 15-20 characters to obtain.

I'd just recommend looking at a few videos first, just to see how it plays.

Already checked some videos, and also read a review at RPGFan Reviews, where it got 91% overall, and I am already playing it, thanks again for the suggestion :D
It might get a little troublesome getting used to keyboard controls for the button mashing though :D Would be great if I could play it on my PS3, which I can't, because my monitor doesnt support the video output from PS1 games (which I found out after buying FF 7,8 and Grandia from the PS store, dammit)

EDIT: Oh my GAWD the voice acting, argh..... Will try to get over it, but man, that's horrible :D

How about Valkyrie Profile (PSX)? The only real story-heavy segments are the intro sequence and the perfect (A) ending scene. Other than that, it fits moooooost of the criteria.

Only thing I can think on at the moment (mostly because I'm playing through it, lol).

Hmm, how's the combat in that game? Is it fun? From what I read it is turned based, and for spells and special moves there is a CT bar instead of traditional SP/mana, which recharges with time.. got that right? Looks interesting, adding it to my "To try list", thanks!

Every game is a role playing game.

I agree and disagree at the same time, depends on how you look at it, but take into account those criteria I wrote, and you can't recommend a game like Fifa or Minesweeper :D

- preferably not impossibly hard, like for example Wizardry 7
This is perhaps my most favorite RPG game of all time, and yes, it is ball-breakingly hard....until you learn about Job changing! You level up Mage, then switch to fighter. You keep all your spells and MP and skill points! My characters are super beefed up and can take out piles of strong monsters and I didn't even get past Munkharama yet(playing on Hard too!). Plus everybody should have the hide skill and group damaging spells are key. This is like my 10th time playing through and I have yet to complete it.

I didn't mind the difficulty of combat, in fact I liked it, my problem is that it seems like you can gimp your game so that you can't finish it, something to do with the main quest and some moving npc or what, don't remember what exactly....

Also the fact that if I didn't read a guide, I wouldn't even find the map close to the starting area, and without it.... well :D

Persona.... no, just no :D The combat in the second one is... strange, didn't like the setting, although the story was something different and fresh. From what I read, people either love persona games, or hate them. I'm probably in the second group :D
yeah i fuckin hate japan

edit:
wait what "traditional turn-based combat is really strange!"

Hmm maybe I'm mistaken, but didn't Persona 2 have that thing when you had to give orders before-hand, and then just watch everybody execute them instead of traditional turn based? Felt kinda strange to me, was I doing it wrong? Was there some other option? Even if so, I wouldn't play it again, from what I read(and played), HUGE dungeons filled with shitton of random encounters...
