What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

I'm waiting for my copy of Disgaea 4 to arrive (the ONLY copy in my whole country that I found on the internet, luckyyyyy... but seriously, my country needs to sell more JRPGs), so in the meantime I am playing some flash games, most notably this:
http://www.kongregate.com/games/innocuousGames/amorphous
Might seem simple, but actually it's pretty challenging, you will die many times (and in many ways) to the various blob types. One of the best flash games I know.

EDIT: Disgaea 4 arrived, goodbye cruel world, won't see you for a while, hehe.

So, you play MMO's?

I used to play a lot of mmorpgs, first one was Ragnarok Online on a czech free server. Thanks to the game our family got an internet connection (before that I used to play through phone line, only half an hour a day).

After that, I played like every major free MMORPG game there was.
Rappelz, Flyff, Atlantica, Requiem Bloodymare, Runescape, Cabal Online, Runes of Magic, and many many MANY others.

From pay-to-play games, I played:
Aion, Guild Wars, WoW.

Looking back though, with the exception of Guild Wars, and, to a lesser extent, WoW, none of these games managed to hold my attention, and I usually played solo(sometimes in guilds). It's all just a bunch of grindfests, and I can't see how I enjoyed these games when I was younger. I guess I was easier to entertain back then.

Nowaydays though, the only MMO I sometimes fire up is Guild Wars, the only MMORPG game that I can say I LOVE. Story driven campaign with the ability to play through the whole game with only NPC heroes/henchmen. And the tactical gameplay is great.

I will definitely get GW 2 when it comes out.

But other than that, this type of games doesn't do it for me anymore, they require incredible ammounts of grinding, and are massive time sinks. I'd rather waste those hours on single-player rpgs, like Disgaea 3, and soon, Disgaea 4 (oh yeah), where grinding is at least fun. Or normal games, like typical rpgs, shooters, puzzle games etc.

Also, these games require your full attention during raiding/questing or guild activities, so if a RL issue comes up, or you just want to pause the game and come back later, your character is screwed, as is your whole raiding party. I never managed to level up beyond lvl 40 is WoW, simply because the end-game revolves around raiding, sometimes multiple hours that require your full concentration. And that wasn't something to look forward to.

FLCL is indeed hilarious.

After finishing with Stein's Gate (epic epic EPIC), I checked out one episode of FLCL, and... oh my god that is so whacky and over the top, I just loved it, let's see what the other episodes are like.

Wow, thanks, I checked it out, and your trailer made me download the whole thing, currently at episode 8, very interesting so far!

Anime recommendations

Well, the obvious Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden are still great, too bad that there is so many fillers these days. But overall the story is top-notch, love it. And the soundtrack is awesome.

My most favourite is One Piece, even after several hundred episodes, they still keep things fresh, and keeping fillers to a minimum (I can't even remember when was the last time they did one). I love the story, love the characters and their backgrounds, and Luffy is such an amazing/interesting person.

Others I enjoyed quite a lot:
Eureka Seven - Might seem childish, but in fact is pretty awesome, and the soundtrack... oh my gosh.
Elfen Lied - Bloody hell... literally. Awesome anime.
Bleach - Great if you like fighting scenes, but I stopped watching after the Aizen arc ended, imho that's where it should have ended. Also, FILLERS, so many of them, even many FILLER arcs...sheesh.
D.Gray Man - was enjoying it immensely, but it ended when the manga artist had a hand injury, and never resumed. Too bad, it was getting better and better.
Lucky Star - low production values, pretty simplistic, and yet, the simplicity of it kept me entertained, just a story about everyday life of 4 high school girls. Funny, simple and relaxing.
Devil May Cry anime - As a fan of DMC, I loved the anime, and they nailed Dante's personality so well. Only 11 episodes, but awesome. Not sure if somebody who isn't familiar with the overall story of DMC can enjoy it though.
Kiba - One of the first animes I watched, and I loved it.

....
Hmm I am probably forgetting some, but these are the ones that come to mind.

NOTE: I never, EVER, watch anime with english dub. It's always horrible. I almost didn't start watching One Piece, because at first I couldn't find the earlier episodes in japanese with eng subs. I just can't stomach the english voice-overs. That goes for games too.

EDIT: OH MY GOD, how did I forget Death Note. If you haven't already, go watch it, NOW.
Pentagon reminded me of Full Metal Alchemist :D Also effing great, the original and Brotherhood.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

Is that Dark Souls? It's out already I found out, but I currently don't have the money to buy it. DAMN.

EDIT: Nevermind, it comes out on the 7th in Europe, and by 11th, I should receive my salary for my last job, after that, DARK SOULS. Man I can see how this game will frustrate me to no end. I could go through Demon's Souls only once while preserving my sanity.

what scares you the most?

My personal fear is driving. I avoid it at almost all cost, and am on my longest streak yet of about three years. It bothers me so much that if I'm a passenger, I prefer to sit in the backseat so I don't have to watch, though I'll use the passenger seat if it's just two of us. I acknowledge that it's irrational, but it doesn't make it any better. This is one of the big reasons I choose to live in the city where mass transit is accessible for day-to-day living.

It's somewhat similar with me, I fear driving too, but I never even got a driver's license. I was attending driving school (after being persuaded by my family) for like 3 lessons, but I quit. I don't want to drive, I fear it. Being a passenger is bad enough for me, and I also prefer mass transit (trains feel the safest for me). I am also the only one from my family that actually realized that our dog is a passenger too, yet my family never bothered to get the dog a seatbelt. Only after my "talk" with them did they finally get it. Yet they still sometimes don't use it, for various stupid reasons, like "I don't have the time to tie the seatbelt to the dog" or "There isn't enough space in the car, just hold him" or "The seatbelt is in another car".

Our dog is part of our family, I love him, and I don't want anything happen to him (another one of my major fears, and sometimes nightmares, is being there when the dog dies and not being able to prevent it). It's sad that my family obviously doesn't feel the same. I wonder, if they had a baby, would they also not give it a seatbelt for reasons like "I'm in a hurry" or "Just hold him"? I guess not. *sigh*

Damn it, even with ton of mods, Torchlight just can't hold my attention, it's still just too shallow for my tastes. But at least I went back to playing D2 again, kicker assassin build is quite fun, and I am only missing a Lem rune to make myself a Rift runeword, hope it drops before I reach Hell. Probably won't though, it's pretty rare. Maybe I will be able to make it myself through the rune upgrading recipes.

Play throne of Darkness. It is a good, but different, ARPG for you to enjoy.

I watched some gameplay videos and read some reviews, and this game doesn't appeal to me at all. I might try it if I get really desperate, but since my D2 gaming has been reignited yet once again, I doubt it.

On another note, Devil Survivor is too hard for me, I am slowly pushing through, but it's getting frustrating --> not fun. And Etrian Odyssey 3 requires a bit too much grinding for the moment (but I will be back, the exploration, and the SOUNDTRACK....just perfect). So I moved to Strange Journey, the next best thing. It combines the above games nicely, and the difficulty seems just right for me so far. And it has Demon Fusion. I love fusing demons. Plus having the option to do something else besides fighting during an encounter is very welcome, I actually look forward to the next random battle, unlike in the earlier FF games for example, where I dreaded every step I took.

PS: Is there way to refund skill points in Etrian Odyssey 3? Can I still make it through if I somewhat gimp my characters by choosing useless skills or spreading my points? Just to make sure.

what scares you the most?

There could be a "peace" perhaps, when normal soldiers start refusing to die for other people's dreams. Seriously, let the "leaders" of the "nations" dish it out in a duel or something if they want to fight so desperately. There will be no war if there is no one to fight it. Or perhaps, let some giant country like China invade the whole world, so we could be finally united under one language and one "country".

Or let there be a 3th world war with nuclear bombs and whatnot, totally destroying the whole human race. Then there might be peace.

....

Ahem, anyways, on topic:
What scares me the most is the thought of being stranded in the middle of the ocean, with nothing in sight, and not knowing what is under me. I am scared of the ocean, even in PC games (for example Morrowind, or Minecraft), when I know there is nothing in the water. The thought of not knowing what is down there sacres me. On land at least, usually there are only 2 dimensions and you can see quite far, but in deep waters, there is the 3rd dimension, and bad visibility to boot. Only darkness and the unknown in the depths. *shudder*

Emotional Movies

I cried during a lot of movies, some notable ones:

- Forest Gump, at the end (one of my top 5 movies ever, just... brilliant)
- Lord of the Rings, also at the end
- Grave of the Fireflies.... hell of a movie, cried at the end
- Green Mile...yep, you guessed it, cried at the end (also one of my top 5)

And yep, I remember when I was younger, I cried during that one pokemon movie.

I also tend to cry during certain scenes in anime, but that doesn't belong in this topic.

EDIT: Also would be interesting topic with video-game emotional moments, not only RM games.
