The Screenshot Topic Returns

The only thing I can focus on is the fact that trees seem to grow out of deep holes in the ground.

@Brady
Thank you, as I said I put alot of thought into sound, so I am pleased that it adds to the atmosphere.
@Voure
Dunno if I would call it weird fiction, but my favourite authors are Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft. Especially Lovecraft have been influental in my storytelling and I can only hope to emulate his mastery over making you fear the unknown.

It was actually me reading "Pet Sematary" by King that made me want to make a game that takes place in a forest. The chapters that take place in the forest leading to the Indian graves have some of the best atmospheres that I know of.
I've also always been scared of making realistic outdoor locations and I took this as a challenge.

So the general consensus so far seems to be:
More visual elements.
More choices/variation in plot.
More fleshed out characters/interaction with characters.
Better pacing.

I'll work on these.

Really dig the setting and look so far. This looks like the sort of game where branching storylines would be interesting. Say the characters have to run, and there's an option to trip a comrade to buy the main character more time. Just an evil thought.

The thought have actually crossed my mind, being that the game almost plays like a visual novel at times.
For now I will complete the main story that I had in mind from the start, and if interest is high enough it is very much possible that I will add branching paths.
I love long gory bad ends.

One mans easy to read is anothers not-easy to read, it seems.

@obsorber
No combat. The game is probably going to have more in common with visual novels than RPGs. It's 90% story. Except instead of getting a pretty girl in the end you get your face torn off. Since it's going to be so focused on story, pulling it off in 30 minutes (might be less, actually) is not going to be a problem. The story isn't that long.
As for what's unique... The way the game looks, and how I tell the story. The game leaves much to the imagination.
There is also very little music (none, actually).
I probably spent more time on sound than the normal game, too.

I guess so. Hopefully people realize their age from playing the game. If not, oh well. Not like it matters much. They COULD be 7-year olds camping without their parents.
I just imagine them as teenagers, myself.

Cabin.png

They are supposed to be teenagers.
It's not that uncommon with slightly smaller sprites compared to the rest of the world. Just look at the RTP characters.
I guess the difference with my sprites is that the proportions are slightly more realistic, maybe that makes a difference.

By adding something that usually present in a forest. Like woods laying on a ground, rocks, etc.
The rocks are hidden under the grass. I added it, promise.

I think, your map need more detail.

More detail how?
Anyway, thanks.
