Ah, shoot. It failed to upload again... >_< I'm not too happy about that. Nothing I can do but curse my crappy internet though. I really wanted to participate in an event for a change, but it looks like I've been screwed.
Okay, I'm starting to panic here. I've tried three times to upload, with no success. I think I only have the time for one more try. I hope I don't wind up kicked out after all I've done... >_<
Yeah, MV doesn't seem to do "small" very well at all... blah. And this game wasn't even using fancy custom-everything graphics either.
author=pianotmI know what you mean. my main game is pushing 1.5GB and it only has about 1.5 hours of play in it... Yay for MV Stripper!
Yeah, I don't get it. Mine's VX Ace. With all the assets mine comes with, I was actually surprised it was only 110 MB. I did a basic RTP game in the MV trial, and it was something 355 MB.
That's going to be an issue for people. Anyone using MV who wants upload a serious game with decent playtime is going to have to put their downloads offsite.
I thought I trimmed the fluff, but after attacking with MV Stripper, it's down to a far friendlier 221MB. (Too bad updated MV's built-in trim only works on deployed games. X_X) Much better! Thanks, you two~!
Whew. I've done it, and I'm happy with my result! I think I like this version even better than the one that got screwed. Now to see if I can upload this big puppy. (Seriously, how the hell does a tiny, 30 minute "game" get to be almost half a gig?! Gotta love MV sometimes...)
Best of luck! It really sucks to get hit with such a terrible virus ;_;
I back up my files on USB flash drives about once a week to prevent something like this. That might be helpful to you in the future. Good luck! ^_^
Thanks for the encouragement, it's very nice of you. I back up my stuff too, but this virus is NASTY. It also encrypted my other drives, including my backup drive! Gah, it's been pesky... but there's a good part. Strangely, it left my C drive untouched, which was the only reason my game was saved. Until I'm SURE it's not hiding a Trojan, I won't release any updates. I don't want anyone to have to deal with this bug.
Agh, ignore that. Browser fart. Seriously, back to game-mak!
No longer than 30 is my new goal. I should be able to get something playable done by the deadline. Time to stop fuming and get back to work~!
Well, I had a semi-random dungeon going on which consumed eight of them. The majority of the gameplay was dungeon-crawling, with story events and cutscenes at the end of every floor. I was quite proud of it... which makes me even angrier about that virus! >_<
