Space in the maps

Thanks for the impute. I agree about the commercial games comment being an excuse, but I also agree that if not given advice about how to improve mapping then there's no way to improve, which is why I started this post. The feedback has been very helpful.

Space in the maps

Looking around and seeing people talk about maps, there's something that people call open space. There's too much open space here and there, or there's too this or that. How is the maker suppose to know what is considered too much open space. Even if the maker is able to reduce the space, there are times when they can't either because of map effect, or trying to edit a map already made, and the map can't be altered any more. Do we even care about open spaces? There are a number of commercial games that have too much open space. Why should it matter here? And if it does, how might one improve it, without sacrificing the work that they already put into a game? Food for though anyone.

Giving Feedback: Pass or Fail

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having a little feedback on my own http://rpgmaker.net/games/2370/

Story vs. Features

For me it would be about the story. If the story isn't right then I have a lower chance of playing it, but features are important. I am still only into my second game, and I am now getting to the point where I am comfortable enough with the mechanics of Maker XP that I am willing to move beyond the template provided. Although it's a small thing for me, my next game, I will be changing how the battles work. It's actually only a small thing at best, but for someone who is only working on game two and going on to game three that change in the game features is actually a very big thing for me.

Boulders on switches

I'm curious. Although this tutorial is set to RM2k3, can this tutorial also be used in context of XP or VX?

Throne's Ascension

To anyone who cares, after being encouraged by various people to change the name of my game I did, but other than it's name, it's still the same game. I have not yet made any changes to the name and what not in the actual game itself. I will be doing that at a later date. Or maybe not. Either way, a decent update with fewer bugs has been added. I know for a fact that Jay and Sara's story work.

King's Quest

To anyone who is reading this, you may find a problem with one of the files: RGSS102.dll. For the RTPs and everything for these days the RGSS102.dll is too old, supposedly. However, my sister discovered a super easy trick to solve that problem. She simply used the "rename" option and changed the 2 to a 4. Therefore the file says it's a RGSS104.dll, but it's actually still the RGSS102.dll.

Titles

Hey, it has come to my attention, that the name of my game should be changed. I titled my game "King's Quest." Knowing now, that I did not know when I named it, there is an old series of games that go by the same name. Someone spoke to me that I should consider changing the name of the game because of the name, "King's Quest" there was a possibility that the makers would find out about my game's title, and cause problems later, even though it's completely home made. He recommended that I change the name of my game, and maybe even add a disclaimer about my game, which is nothing like the commercial video game. Any thoughts?

Throne's Ascension

Something I forgot to add, I guess. I wouldn't know what I need to add until people ask me. Okay....If you read Servo's part carefully, you find that there is some artifact needed in order to leave Country. Assuming Country is a penninsula then you need to travel to the ends of the land. Look around, in the south edges of Country, on one side there is a tower, and on the other is a cave. The key halves are there.

To everyone, there may be a glitch in the game. Actually there are several, I will be adding a new update to the game in a few days. Any saved files should transfer, but you will have to watch for that.

Throne's Ascension

I'm not sure how, but I can try. What's the problem....besides the need for the RTP file?
