I made this site and it's awesome. But I don't run it anymore. Now I'm just a plebe like you.

What do y'all think about if we had a sticky thread where people can post that there game was accepted?

Yeah I think community and frontpage can both be drastically updated.

One large issue: there's a lot of KINDS of content here. Hard to organize it.

What are you thinking about right now?

Do you need EXACTLY 11 for some reason?
Their makerscore would be 12345.
Oh God damn I'm a dummy
That would be cool

12345? That's the passcode I use on my luggage!

Been pretty active here lately.

Thought about it. RMN has a decent userbase and some good stuff, but would it make sense to try and get back in to drag it to a different "place"?
I'm (supposed to be) helping Ankylo with some site maintenance work...at the very least, would you mind if I asked you questions about the codebase here and there?

You absolutely can. I'm typically more responsive via Twitter or Signal.

I think the heart of your idea is fine. Newly accepted games are easily missed if you blink. But I think making a stickied topic is a bandaid.

I mean, I look at the front page, I just don't care because I'm here for gammak discussion and shitposting, not actually consuming games. :V
Yep, most days if I'm just popping in I check out the forums more so than the wall of games the FrontPage presents me.
That's a flaw with the frontpage, then.
That's valid too, then!

My biggest goal with this suggestion is that newcomers can been seen and heard more easily with their uploads than they are now without having to make a name on the forums for anyone to give them the time of day.
We wanna keep people interested and feeling important with their work. Having a vocal community to go to for support is very important.

Shouldn't their works determine if they are seen or heard? If people aren't visiting the game pages to give support, how else would they be doing so?

I think this would be a bad idea. Part of any kind of stream of information is the "drinking from the firehose" problem. AKA, there is too much to consume and you get overloaded. And choice paralysis is a real thing.

You don't WANT to leverage the forum more. The forum has inherent firehose problems and creates even more distinction of state between it and the "real" site.

This would also put up more social barriers that would indicate success. AKA, "for a successful game, you have to get it approved and THEN have to post in this topic". That also encourages people not to use the site tools.

Valid fix? Improve the site's discoverability.

Most can't. But does it make sense to have RMN generate revenue so you could?

Been pretty active here lately.

Well GJ only got to the point CROS could make his gambit because of its success? And then it paid off. Both sites were volunteer-driven initially. Is RMN's fate to only ever be volunteers?
