YEASTER'S PROFILE

Hi! Thank you for peeping at my profile.
I like making modern-themed games. My first game, Onyx, was made in 2006, when I was a senior in high school. So it's pretty ROUGH, but people seem to like it? Total Chaos is my personal favorite, but it has some, erm, issues, too. Mystery Man Zero is coming you guys, I haven't forgotten about it. A full-game will come out even if it takes 10 years. Oh gosh, I hope it doesn't take that long, but you get what I'm saying, right?
Right now, I am also working on A Nightmare in Sunnydale, a horror genre mesh-up fangame, if you will. I also like playing games. Actually, playing RPGM games is legit one of my favorite pastimes. *insert smiley here*
When I can fit it in, I do a little bit of Gatekeeper as well, a sci-fi fantasy about a team of god-lite forces, Gatekeepers, who have to protect the dying Earth from forces they don't even know about.
If thou think they can take it, download some of my stuff!

A Nightmare in Sunnydale Review
Battles did were "challenging" in the sense that you had to use skills and items, but not "frustrating"... I guess that's what I meant.
Yup, that was my goal. =)
A Nightmare in Sunnydale
She doesn't appear in the demo, but perhaps she will in the full game........... =P
I had a large pool of potential magic users to choose from.

Americanization
author=Hostilefunauthor=KindredzI never mentioned racism. I don't care if they are white, black, asian, red, or alien: I just dislike when an original is altered from its original form. Games from japan should not be changed/censored for american gamers and american games should not be changed/censored for japanese gamers. It changes the athors point and vision from its original form.
[
I don't see it as racism.
.
I agree with you, totally, but from a marketing standpoint that may not always be possible, unfortunately.
Honestly, as long as the altered characters don't become jive turkey caricatures like Mark from Persona 1, I don't have that big of an issue with it.
In games I'm actually pretty OK with localization. Otherwise we'd get a Metal Gear Solid that resembles Star Ocean or something (god save us if that happened).
Ick. *shudders*
What makes you laugh?
I can laugh over the silliest shit ever. It really doesn't take much to crack me the hell up (except if it's ignorance or if it comes at the expense of someone else unless they deserve it).
Americanization
author=Craze
Animu turns me off of something incredibly quickly. I have nothing against Japan; I have everything against Nipponophiles. No, not everybody wants your desu desu all over them.
Localization is bad, what? Given that not everybody wishes they could be super-deformed on command, and that American game players aren't Japanese, why the hell would a game/whatever keep Japanese humor/puns/whatever? If you were playing a game translated and localized from Spanish, you'd likely be put off and confused by phrases like "go fry asparagus" or "to another dog with that bone." Literal translations just don't work.
The Japanese art for that game is horrible. Eye shadow aside, I vastly prefer the style of the American release.
I agree.
I mean, it's a necessary evil. The entertainment industry is first a business, and they have to do what they think will sell their products.
In the example in the original post is it more than the box art that has been changed? Because haven't American box art always been horrible?
Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't see a problem with the American versions. More than any of the other box covers, they actually give you an idea of what the game is about (or at least how you'd expect it to play). Ico's original cover is beautiful, but as a consumer, it doesn't really give me any information about what the game actually is, which makes me less likely to pick it up and read the print behind it (for all I know, it could be a puzzle game for little kids).
