Dreaming Mary
Many thanks for playing! =D
You can shoot me a message if you'd like a link to the bonus page, since, well, anyone could find it if they watch one of the LP endings _( :''>_ L)_
@Argh, thank you, I'll be sure to tell Trass this! XD
I decided to keep only music from the "main" area of the game in the official OST to prevent spoilers, as it came out the same day as the game. Trass and I were thinking of releasing a Side B to the OST but considering how the second release of the game has unencrypted audio files I decided there wasn't much need to do so.
Considering the... nature of the files not included in the OST I'm actually surprised each time someone asks about them though, haha @_@

Painted Heart Review
Aah, the restricted sidescrolling movement is a great point >_< I needed to go a lot further to make it really work.
Thanks for the review, Cash! It's really helpful! =D

Q&A: The Moral of Dreaming Mary
Yeah, the execution is really far from perfect XD
As long as it accomplished the end goal of making some people think a little, I'm pretty ok with it in the end.
It is hard to control, but that's the fun about games! It's still a lot of fun to read about how you saw the game. Sure, it might not be what I envisioned, but that's how it is for all creators. Once it's out in the world, anything goes.

I suppose such an experience is hard to control, though. Player experience and interpretation is such a diverse, unknowable thing. I suppose that's why using games as artform can be tricky.

Anyone want to help me better develop a horror/mystery game?
I'm no horror expert but here goes.
Try to find a dedicated artist who can help you make sprites and animations. You can also try frankenspriting with the Mack style sprites, which are taller. If you're really stuck on character death animations you can ask on the forums for someone to make them for you, or you can forgo the graphics part of the game and focus on making the OTHER parts really, really scary.
Unless you do it really well, pixelated blood isn't all that scary, so unless you're absolutely set on it there's no need to spend time on pixelated gore imo.
You should also rely on sound effects. For example, the character is walking in a dark and spooky hallway and passes a door. Set an event where a thump thump noise plays when they pass. If they're the easily frightened type they'll think "oh god something's in there".
Remember that a lot of the greater horror comes from the unknown, so don't overdo chase scenes and don't rely on stupid instakills, which seem to be more annoying and immersion-breaking than anything else. Surprise and unexpected occurrences are your friend. If you can catch the player off guard, you've found gold.
Apparently, a nice strategy you can use once is to establish a safe space for the player to relax and breathe, then take it away from them.
Also, in this day and age people expect more from horror than just jumpscares. Why is your setting scary? Because there's a mass murdering angel and a bunch of crazy people? If you can say "It's not JUST that," and go into detail about all of the absolutely horrifying acts these people are committing then you're fine, I guess.
As a bonus have some spooky creepy music to listen to.

Wait... did I hear that right? Is Ao Oni getting a MOVIE?!
The Merchant's Tale

This year's battle for the Misaos is going to be tougher than ever before.
Definitely, definitely! It's tough even to nominate since we only get 1 per category, but look at all of these games.
Merchant's Tale already has absolutely gorgeous artwork, and promises to have some, ahem, great music.
*slapped into a well*
The setting is also promising, though of course we'd really need to play the game to really experience it.

Thanks again for all the feedback, and especially to Kylaila and outcry for the reviews haha XD
Ahh, and I'll just chip in at the last minute that I was also close to reviewing Tirawrmisu but didn't for the same reason nhubi did. =P

Thanks for the review, outcry! Especially for touching on the overall misses of the game-- it really helps guide us for the next time. =D
Painted Heart Review
Thank you for your review, Kylaila! As I've said before, I agree with the points you make on how the game is lacking XD
RPGs seem to be tougher challenges when it comes to game-making, so I will be sure to keep this, as well as other critical feedback, in mind for our next attempt.
Thanks again!

ooh the purple haired girl is especially pretty ;w;
You pick a lot of great colors for your works. I think you have a lot of potential for making emotional and evocative paintings.
For tips on tablets, I'll say draw what you like and don't get obsessed with miniscule details/flaws that are easier to see on the screen. Be free, and have fun! =D
