[rm2k3] Is there such thing as auto-importing the RTP files to a project?

Well, the best way to do this is importing one file at a time, and ONLY those which you actually use in the game. That's if you want to make your game RTP-independent.

You could also just copy and paste all the files, but that would unnecessarily increase the size of your project, so don't.

Marvel Brothel

Just for the record... I uploaded the game file to RMN, since everybody was complaining about rapidshare. Download count was on 336. :D

I would kill for some sprites of dead corpses! (rm2k3)

Btw, what kind of butterfly do you want? Human-sized, or human-proportional (like... tiny)?

I would kill for some sprites of dead corpses! (rm2k3)

Well... I don't really like your "innocent cirizens" charsets, but it's up to you anyway.

Had to kill 'em all.

Hope you like it.

Cell phone in RM2K3

Ok, so I'm making a cell phone system in RM2K3.

Here's how it works:
Cell phone is an item that activates a switch, CELL.

There's an autostart event at everymap that is triggered by this switch.
The first page os this event has the cellphone basic commands, like dialing, saving numbers, browsing through the phone memory, etc.
If you dial an existing number, another auto-start page on the same event is activated, and it runs the conversation events.

It works fine. My problem is, I'm not really happy with having one event on every single map... because I'd have to change EVERY event every time I change anything on any conversation, add a new number, etc. So I was wondering if I could do it using common events, but I'm not familiar with common events. Any ideas?

Well... if you want, post some charsets from your game, and I'll kill them for you (which means, make a dead version of them).

You want blood?

What are you working on now?

Planning a drug addiction system. Tell me what you think:

The whole cycle only starts when you take the drug for the first time.
You get a PUMPED condition (stats increase) that ends at the end of any battle.

Common event determines the number of battles (var1).
Common event compares var1 to var2 (initially zero). If var1 is at least 3 higher, character gets another condition, ABSTINENCE, which reduces his stats (and var2 set equal var1).

If you take the drug again, you cure ABSTINENCE and get PUMPED again.

So, you basically have to take the drug every 3 battles or you'll get ABSTINENCE.

How To Be A Reviewer

Good article. Most of it is just common sense, but wise common sense.

I'd just like to point one thing, and that is, of course, just my opinion about "average" games, those rated 2.5-3.5.

Kentona
These games are good and can provide a good playing experience.

Darken
Enjoyable, might have bad/boring moments in the middle, but still fun.

MaxMcGee
These games are "average" and are worth playing; whether or not they are "good" or you will enjoy them is largely up to personal tastes and preferences. (...) All of these games are worth your time especially if their specific features interest you.

Seems like in most people's opinion, average games are worth playing. As I see it, there are over 1800 games in RMN, and knowing that some of them may take me quite a few hours to finish, I'm kinda picky when chosing one to start playing. I mean... a 3 star review is not very appealing. If I'm looking for a game to play based only on reviews and stars (using the search engine, for instance), I usually look for something with at least 4 stars. So, unless the game has some specific element that catches my attention, 3-stars and 1-star have the same effect on me. I'm just saying this so people are really careful when writing reviews and rating the games.

Need spriting help

WOW!
Looks awesome! Thanks a bunch!

Post your dead projects!

@calunio: Well, I thought nobody ever really talks about the projects they abandoned so I thought it might be fun to see which projects were too ambitious for people, what hard drive crashes killed and also how far most of us came since earlier projects. I'm not trying to advertise or pimp my projects or anything.

Darken's got it right... We spent some amount of time on these games so why not reminisce about them?

Why not finish them? What I said, I meant as a compliment. I think it's such a waste of potentially good games.
