The Screenshot Topic Returns

Haven't posted a screenshot in a while.. not that this one is interesting. It's for the Contest Game. (yes I already got rid of the comma before 'in Lyria')

Kyrsty; I don't normally like those style of portrait, but when I do, that's it.

It's clear Enterbrain doesn't care about security

I never said bankrupt you said bankrupt. I said they are losing money or not even really making much profit as this was discussed on the japanese website a week or so ago. The thread might still be open so I'll check, but they were saying Piracy was a troubling issue.

Also the fact some people complained about the fact that EB! has no actual security, it uses a basic registration function widely known to be broken if the program is downloaded off-site talking about how easy it was to bring that with them.

But as I said, some may disagree, but I think it's the lazyness and EB! doesn't have a real excuse.

Sorry, you are right. You didn't say bankrupt. However you have implied a heavy loss in sales.

It is their choice to handle how they haemorrhage money (if they are? you still haven't proven that?)

I also don't know of anyone complaining about how easy it is to crack RM* products, except you.

I also don't see why you bring the topic up if you aren't willing to discuss it? Do you not agree with what we are saying, about how some DRM (no matter how minor) is enough to get lots of sales? and that RM isn't their money maker, it's a side project primarily tailored to the Japanese users?

"^Yes they have." is not an argument.

I would like a source on this.

Your opinion is noted, but I don't see what you are trying to accomplish/prove by bringing the topic up here. Nobody has disagreed with you on the DRM being weak, you have no reason to keep stating that.

We want you to prove to us that the weakness of the DRM is causing a lack of sales and causing EB! to go bankrupt.

When has EB! ever complained about a lack of money or delayed releases?

As far as I know, RM is a sideproject for EB and not their main focus or money maker at all.

Tileset request for Rpg Maker VX.

... This post has been up for an hour. This isn't a fucking chatroom, it's a forum. If you want those sprites, they'd have to be sprited from scratch. I seriously doubt there is a catch-all filter that could accomplish what you want.

Except virtually they have no security. They haven't improved it one percent. If they want to make profit from us, like many if not all here who buys the games, they need to take themselves more seriously. If you do the same thing 4 times for every product that's poor business. It's not right, it's lazy, and soon there may not be another Rpg Maker. Heck right now we have a partial expansion to VX instead of a new engine.

"Virtually no" and "No" security are completely different things.

A cop with a gun is going to be able to stop a lot of crime and bad behaviour whether it is loaded or not.

Would you rather that you constantly had to be connected to a server the entire time you were using the software? Would you prefer if all the saves were saved on their servers so you couldn't load or save projects if you weren't logged into an account and connected to them?

Can we just derail this into insulting Funky_Gun for his idiotic opinion now, instead of trying to have a legitimate discussion on this topic for 5 pages and then having it turn into a shit fest?

The only person I think on this forum who is remotely qualified to talk about this is TouchFuzzy since he actually works with distributing the software state-side.

Yes, it is easy to get by the security. Does that make it okay? No, of course not. You are still stealing, it's still illegal.

Is it Enterbrain's priority to make harsher DRM? I don't know, I don't think so. Crackers are going to get by any level of DRM. There is no piece of software that has been released that hasn't been cracked (except possibly the stuff that nobody wants to crack.)
Should they remove it entirely? No, of course not. It still provides incentive for people to pay for the product. Not everyone is going to illegally obtain it, but if they have the choice of getting it for free legally, they are not likely going to pay for it.

Skyborn - Indie "Steampunk fantasy" RPG

Let me know when it goes on sale. I'd like to play it (Steampunk is my favourite genre) but I am not willing to pay $15 for it. I'm not saying you picked the wrong price point, I am just saying that I am not willing. I never pay for a PC game unless it is at least 33% off (commercial and indie games alike.)

(Solved)

It depends on what graphic editor you are using.

MS Paint doesn't support transparency.

If you are using something that supports layers, the easiest way is to make a layer with your character, and delete all the other layers. The default lack of background for most of these applications is usually transparency.

Alternatively, you can use the Import feature in vxAce and when prompted, left-click on the colour you want to be transparent (and if you want, right-click on a colour you want to be semi-transparent.)

That game looks so damn creative and slick, but at the same time looks like you might as well be kicking a wall over and over without shoes on.
