Uchioniko Review

Half the reason I chose to make Ruri's normal walk speed "2X faster" was to relay the sense of boundless energy she has. Like, she's on some kind of constant sugar high. Also, running up and down Iwayama's hallway at warp speed is... strangely fun. Maybe that's just me? I'm not sure if that speed is going to stick around, though. It depends on the mapping. My tendency has been to make small-ish maps with the idea that I don't have to work in as much detail. If I keep making maps like the hallway of Iwayama High, this game might turn out deviating from that tendency bit. However, I can't really say with any amount of certainty at this time.
The only other thing I wish to note at this time is the music. I know the "Nugget Crash Curse" version had nothing but RTP with the music category. I doubt you got that version, considering what I'm seeing with "Story". So, look to the Audio/BGM directory. If I included any outside material, the file names would indicate the source and title of the pieces. I might be guessing with some of the titles, however.
Yeah, I admit going really fast is fun. And I didn't know you made a nugget crash course version. But I shouldn't go backwards, you've already worked on this game further, and anything I would've had to say there may of already been done, and don't worry, I'll look in the audio/bgm source...later.

Yeah unfortunately, if you want to make a proper sonic fan game, you're probably gonna need to buckle down and learn rom hacking/asm. Even if you were to do it in game maker, you'll need some kind of physics engine that accounts for a character running along sloped surfaces & loops (which I think would require some trigonometry know-how). Sonic fans go the rom hacking route because those physics are already in place. Here's some physics info though:

Sorry there's no easy solution/answer. :-/
O.k.

Back in 1999 there was a Sonic 3 ROM editor. Try with that. I dabbled in it, but found it pretty rough to deal with.
I guess that's cool. I'll try it...later.

I meant, build your own Sonic game/engine from scratch in a programing language.
author=kentonaThat's the thing, I don't know ANY code language. I barely even know HTML! I can't do so until I learn, and even then which coding language is best, do I need another program to type the coding in? What do I do if I find a glitch that seems unfix-able?
"Build the engine you wish to see in the world" ~ Ghandi.then submit your game to RMN as Other...or maybe Custom. Not sure which!
I wouldn't know a thing about how to make a engine.

You can actually submit romhacks here?
I don't think so...

I don't think that such a thing exists, especially anything similar to Mario Bros X. The fat plumber is just much more popular than the hedgehog.
You'll probably have to learn Game Maker.
I've tried Game Maker, and it doesn't make sense, I looked at some other people's creations, and they're games didn't make sense or they may need to fix their physics a bit(Sonic Zone, I'm looking at you...), otherwise, I may need to learn how to make a plat former game on RPG maker 2K3.

There's a ton of romhacking tools out there, but it's not easy. I think sonicretro.org is a big community for that. The rom hack "Sonic Megamix" should give you an idea of what you can do with those tools.
Again, as with game maker, except worse. I have gotten only some programs to work on any of the computers I've worked on, and some of them needs all this complicated stuff to go on, like put these files in this folder rename it to this and then do this...and sometimes I screw up on the instructions because I don't understand!

If you want to make a game based on a commercial game, romhacking is the way to go. Warning: you will need to learn how assembly language works. You won't actually need to learn the language itself (you can always look each instruction up as you get to it) but you'll need to know how it works in general. This probably means you first need to be familiar with a real programming language just so you have a basic idea how programming works. (Scripting experience in RPG Maker will suffice, if you've gotten to the point where you're good at that.)
Yes, there are some tools to keep you from having to hack the assembly for everything you want to do. But the tools involve assembly too - they just make it less painful.
I guess you could build it from scratch in Game Maker but that would be far more work than editing the original game. At that point you might as well make an original game instead.
Yeah...I don't know programming in any language, unless you count me editing the scripts a bit for certain things to happen :(
I guess I'll have to look at a few tutorials on rom hacking and game maker(in case I find one is better than the other in either tutorial)

You know me, I love Sonic. And, well, I get tired of using the same makers everyday. I started looking, but I couldn't find anything. If any of you game engine makers could make a free 2D Sonic game creator that has these things, I would love you for it, and if you can't make it, and you know if one exists(besides game maker), please tell me, otherwise...
Things I would like the maker to have:
1.Multiple characters:Sonic, Shadow, Tails, Silver, Amy, ect.(your choice here)
2.Up to 2 players
3.Easy to make levels
4.Have multiple sprites from the Classic Games
5.Have certain functions be able to be turned on and off such as homing attacks or spin dash or other moves and attacks
6.Be able to have custom graphics
Alot of this is like Mario Bro. X, except I want this to have Sonic physics.
Could some of you at least help me here? I would appreciate it!

How do we join? I read the whole topic and didn't find anything about that. Do I just tell you that I want to join this, or is it something else. Because I would like to take a shot at this.

FINALLY submitted!
Maybe, I'll do another review, but not today or tomorrow. I have a game I have to catch up with making.

God dang it! This time I made sure I clicked resubmit and after waiting a while, my review STILL hasn't been approved or denied!

author=ankyloauthor=pyrodoomIf it was denied you need to re-submit it using the Resubmit button on your submissions page.author=DeckillerWhat? I know I made the revisions, and did what I could to fix it, and then I re-submitted it. It hasn't been denied or approved ever since the revisions. Wait, is that what you mean by queue? You can see which reviews are to be approved or denied or something?
I do not see your review in the queue.
I did.
