Improving Basic Attack and Guard Functionality
author=CrazeYou can only equip one mastery slot. Every weapon mastery works in a different way.
how many slots do you have, or do you master them all? if the latter, just making mat == atk make me wonder why the stats are differentiated. if it's a limited choice though, sounds fine.
Improving Basic Attack and Guard Functionality
I've masteries that change my basic attacks. When you reach a certain level and equip that mastery, your basic attacks get an upgrade. Example: A Staff using Mage's basic attacks (with mastery) calculated with his/her Magic power instead of ATK.
Also, my Guard scales with DEF, you can reduce more damage when raising DEF and it recovers 1% HP, MP, TP.
I really liked your "Howl" example, I LOVE Golden Sun's weapon system. Those shiny skill effects are so awesome :()

Shattered Hourglass

More feedback for this awesome game that keeps making me come back again and again.
First of all, I really like all the additions you made recently, I was a bit shocked at the portraits at first, but I got used to it fast.
1) The Scan Crash bug still happened once when I used the scan ability to see the weaknesses of the opponents. I suppose it's the script that brings up the window with the stats that causes some sort of trouble during the normal flow of combat.
2) There is still a (very old) bug that crashes the game in SandDock to the east of Qual Village. If you examine the chair to the right of the guy that gives you the boat remote plus, you will pop up a message that says "za", after that the game crashes and gives an error message about a "derp" story image book file missing.
3) Duran's Poison Cut 4 hits all enemies 4 times. Is this intended? From the description it's not really mentioned, and, looking at the MP Cost (it's 99), this ability appears to be VERY strong and it resolves 99% of random battles on its own.
My instinct tells me that this was an oversight, but is it? This is more of a question than a request of nerf, by the way. Just keep in mind that, right now Poison Cut 4 is Better than Flaming Weapon II in every possible way, even against fire weak enemies.
About balance feedback:
Due to curiosity, and lots of free time, I decided to farm character of my Good path game (Treephop, Juliet, Suan and Zulwhern) to 35 in every job, with Suan hitting 40 in all his 3 jobs.
First of all, Level 40 giving nothing (no mastery, no ability, just a small stat boost) was underwhelming. I was kinda expecting something awesome at that level :P
Second, many of the "masteries" unlocked are either redundant or simply useless.
Zulwhern gets Light Armor Mastery... but he can wear Light Armor in all his jobs!
Also, the masteries that grant the ability to equip certain stuff, do not really compare to masteries that allow you to use entire skillsets across different classes. This is even more evident with the new accessories that allow to wear different equipment, why use Bow Mastery when you could just equip a Magic Quiver instead?
I don't know if it's possible, but I'd review this system to separate one "slot" for skill-related masteries and another "slot" for equipment related ones. So you can have Laquerarii Mastery AND Hammer Mastery at the same time, for example.
Clangeddin! Welcome back, it's great to see you once again!
1) Oh no... Is it still happening? I was so sure that problem has gone completely. I wonder if I need to change that script to another scan script. I'll run some tests soon.
2)Oh, wow... How did you find that? Even I forgot that I put an event in there.
I guess I was trying to add a notebook event that explains where did Qual went... Hahaha.
3)Thaks for finding that! No, it's not intended. All Poison Cut skills are meant to be single target skills. That skill is so powerful for a single target and I let it be AoE... Ughhh! (You can enjoy that overpowered skill for now ahaha)
Level 35 was the previous level cap, I've made some extra levels to round the levels and players can gain some extra stats. What you say is quite true, but can you imagine how devastating skills you can get in level 40... I really don't want to learn!
I really need to check out those masteries, the basic idea of those masteries are giving its user passive boosts but I'm sure I've missed some points on there. Just checked out and you are absolutely right, I might need to make some tweaks to them. Like Dark Knight wears Heavy Armour, instead of Light one.
Actually, when you recruit Mio/Cursed Eagle over Zulwhern, you can't get a party member that equips Bow weapons. So I wanted to fill that empty gap with items. I wanted to make a creative approach with those items. Because on some playthrough people can never wear FUR/PAW stuff. If you want to get a hammer-wielding Treephop, you can with that thing! It's fun on paper but I'm not sure about on the practice. I just want to open some possibilities.
(I think I might need to make Masteries more interesting.)
Thank you so much for your feedback! I really appreciate it.
Edit: I don't think I can create a Slot tab on characters. That's a really nice idea but also a very hard thing for me to get over it. So I'll add some flavor to Masteries to make them appealing in some scenarios.
