SBESTER'S PROFILE

I've been an active member for quite a few years now. I started my RMN career by releasing the Eden Legacy Trilogy of games (each entry took 4 months of nonstop work) within one year, and I've gradually shifted to creating other games as well. I now have 3 flagship series: Eden Legacy, Fragile Hearts, and Mafiosi (being remade for commercial release as Crime Opera). I'm pretty much solely focused on the Crime Opera series of visual novels right now, as my band and job currently take up most of my free time.

Currently working on
-Crime Opera Trilogy (Mafiosi 1, 2, & 3 edited, with all original resources)
-It's a secret...
Crime Opera II: The Floo...
The kids have grown up, and they're becoming quite dangerous.

Generica: The Next Generation

Story was never something I played the first one for anyway, I say keep at 'er! :)

And they all lived happily ever after...

Ugh, hated FF7 both times I tried playing it. Almost beat it the second time.

And yes, Xenogears was the best game ever made without a doubt.

From Russia With Love

I go to that french site quite a bit, it's a pretty good one

Why Plagiarism Matters

One thing I want to highlight is that "fair use" is an American policy, and each country has their own policy to follow. They all have to conform to the WIPO obligations, but some of those are left pretty vague (intentionally so). I've been learning about fair dealing (Canadian) versus fair use, but it's all kind of mixed unhealthily together in my head (Canada is undergoing some "changes" in this regard, which doesn't help my understanding of it). Anyway, the point is that if you're stealing something, you need to be aware of what type of work it is, who the creator is, who owns the rights to the work, and where you're situated to be able to even think about the legalities.

In terms of RM games, we're pretty safe when it comes to resources, although it may piss some people off. However, if you're stealing plot elements or characters and not at least mentioning it IN the game, it IS plagiarism. It's nice that you post it on your RMN page, but it isn't enough, considering many people download without even reading those parts. In this regard, I'm pretty glad that we're beginning to really talk about these things on this site. If your work is fan fiction, it needs to be stated as so within the work itself, not just as an "oh, btw" in a forum post or blog.

10 people in the past enjoyed it!

protip: 10,000 = ten thousand. 10.000 = ten with a decimal point and three zeros.

commas and periods. utilize them properly. (:
He he in our country it is the oppesite that's why I put it like that there. But I change that :P thx
Where are you from?

I've played this game for an hour so far, definitely reminds me of my first few rpg games. Oh, the good old days! Pretty good balancing, but it requires a little bit of grinding to beat Duke's dad (I was level 10).
I beat Duke's dad around lvl 5, but my desire to play the game was dashed after I went back in time a day and had to walk all the way back across the field to the dungeon where I had to fight Efreet again. I know that there's really nothing that could be done now, but the Otherworld battle theme from FFX skips somewhere in the middle of the song, and overall, though both are .wav files, the songs sounded like they were recorded off of a TV.

I think you're thinking about the teacher. You fight his dad after you beat the teacher twice (after the long trek back). I really struggled at level 10, used about 10 potions and a couple ethers. Maybe it's just me though.

LoZ rpg

RIP Wild Arms series. 4 was the absolute biggest disappointment I've ever known :(

I'll be playing this tonight. Guess I'm a sucker for really old games.

Discussion isn't drama.

Interestingly, if you compare forum/gamepage hits from RRR then you'll find that the forum topics get more hits. Does this mean that gamepages are worse in general? No. It just means RRR isn't set-up in a way that makes gamepages visible. Ergo, comparing RRR and RMN is pretty silly.
Curious to see some numbers you are claiming here. The only number I have to go off is what was just said about Eden Legacy which is the opposite of which you have.
I'm comparing RRR gamepages with RRR forum posts... not RMN gamepages with RRR forum posts... so of course the Eden Legacy data is different.

Not that it matters that the RRR vs. RMN data is different since the comparison is meaningless.

Game page profile views were only 844 over there.... anyway, the point I was trying to make is that RMN game pages are not at all a problem for developers, but rather, they are the best tool we have at promoting ourselves. Maybe it is just my particular games, and others have different results... it was just baffling to hear someone complain about the game pages here and wanting forum pages for our games as well.

RMN game pages promote discussion by allowing users to comment on pics and reviews, which as we've seen (this is how this topic got started in the first place) can have some pretty interesting results. Also, I find the game search here rather intuitive, and I always seem to find games that interest me while using it.
