It is foolish to dismiss rm2k3 as obsolete trash. There is utility yet in its obsolescence.
There exists utility in a Nintendo Entertainment System too but it's still obsolete

Learning some basic scripting really isn't too terrible, you know :P Then you could script VX or use a more advanced engine.
EDIT: Although I understand that it is a lot more time than some people have...
The biggest thing that frustrated me about new RPG Makers is that they remove as many features as they add with each take. Like the side-view battle system!

(If Vx Ace/Unity are the powerhouse engines now..what will make both of those obselete in the future?) o_o
Unless Enterbrain goes out of business, they'll keep making fancier RPG Makers. I also think that other free engines, such as GameMaker and Unity3D, will increase in popularity as they become easier to use.

I can tell you that I've had a few problems playing some of the older games (especially 2k games) on Windows 7, and because of the major difference in Windows 8 I wouldn't be surprised if we lose some compatibility.

@Pneumatic: I don't think he's talking to you specifically, just about the state of RM engines in general. A ton of us used to use 2k/2k3.
I don't think anyone who's been on this forum for more than 6 months should be surprised when the engine argument comes up. It's our curse :D

I'm trying to shorten the title "Love Has Eight Legs" to fit into the tiny-ass space the iPhone gives you for app titles. Basically I'm stuck with "Eight Legs" since:
Love Has Eight Legs
Love Has 8 Legs
Love has 8 legs
These all get shortened to something like "Love... Legs" which is a bit odd.
@UPRC: The curved corners turned out really well, I think that's what defines that Star Trek feel.

Looks like this was a waste of time since you're all completely missing the point.
I already said that 2k/2k3 are shit compared to ace, I'm not arguing that. If there were a way to port it, I would have done it ages ago.
All I was asking was if it would even be possible to run the executable in future OSs
I answered this, but in short: It will only get harder and harder to run 2k/2k3 and will almost certainly require third-party programs.

Holy shit, I had completely forgotten RM95 was even a thing. I remember making my first games with that when I was 10.
