Latest Patch: 1.69. If you have an earlier version, please download the latest patch as soon as possible.

The download has been updated to version 1.69. It includes all fixes up to this point. There is no need to re-download if you have patched in the fixes separately.

You know that game many aspiring devs create? The one starring their friends, often times based on a chat room, or some forums, or a MMO... or perhaps a fangame that barely resembles its source material. The one that gets maybe a half hour of gameplay finished and is completely unintelligible to anyone except that group of friends. Yeah, that one. Now, what if someone actually saw that project all the way through, and attempted to actually make it a fun, accessible, and playable game that was faithful to its source material?

Enter Legend of Balance. This game originally started out as a fun little project for friends, starring characters from Final Fantasy XIV. Over time, and with a ton of effort, it changed into a complete game of its own. It still stars our characters, and there are still a few injokes, but the plot has been set up as such that any Final Fantasy fan can get into the game and enjoy it as a light hearted Final Fantasy romp. Players of FFXIV will find quite a bit to enjoy as well. The story of the game takes place inbetween the end of FFXIV 1.0 and the start of A Realm Reborn(if you haven't played FFXIV, this part probably doesn't matter, and the game can be standalone).

The game revolves around a group of heroes, champions of the realm of Eorzea. In the midst of an intense battle to decide the fate of Eorzea, the heroes are transported away before facing certain death at the hands of Bahamut. Finding themselves separated in a brand new world, the heroes begin a journey to reunite and find a way home. However what starts off as a simple quest quickly unfolds into a classic journey of crystals, great evil, and steadfast allies. Before this adventure ends, they will discover the truth behind this strange new world, and uncover the binds that tie it to their own home and beyond.

-30 to 40 hours of gameplay, including a multitude of sidequests.

-Enjoy a faithfully recreated Final Fantasy battle system. Everything is as you remember it from the classics!

-Utilize classic abilities, including commands such as Jump, Runic, Blitz, Mime, Throw, Mix, Blue Magic, Dualcast, and much more, along with new commands and abilities based on other games in the series, such as Draw Out from Tactics.

-Equip Magicites to gain access to powerful summons and customize your stat growth.

-A huge cast of unique playable characters, including several hidden ones.

-Find and use faithfully recreated equipment. Favorites like the Ultima Weapon, Illumina, Brave Blade/Chicken Knife, Offering, and much, much more is all here to find and use to become unstoppable!

-Dozens of sidequests ensure there's plenty to do, with no need for excess grinding.

-Face off against familiar foes and brand new ones, including a nostalgia filled bonus dungeon for those who complete the main story.

-Facing a foe that your current party can't handle? Switch party members anytime, even in the middle of a fight!

-Buy rare and unique items at the Auction House, and battle in the Colosseum!

-Take part in minigames, including fishing and an arcade-style airship shooter.

-Customizable Battle Speed, Battle Mode, and Difficulty will get you the experience you want, be it tough as nails or a more relaxed game.

Playing the game at higher resolution

Hey all! I just wanted to post a link to an upscaler that will let you play pretty much any rpgmaker game at a much higher resolution.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/magpie.mirror/

Download this and follow the instructions, open Magpie, then the game, then press alt+F11. I'd suggest using either the Anime4k or CRT upscalers for LoB. This will let you play the game in fullscreen and it will look really nice!

@Superes: I am glad you are enjoying the game! Do you mean characters? If so, yeah I think I did go a bit overboard in the sheer number, but I wanted to represent friends and many different FF jobs.

Sounds like you have a really solid team built! I really enjoy reading about all the different party setups people have made and strategies they use, there have been way more than I have expected. Keeping the Blood Sword around as an offhand for the healing is something I had thought of, but surprisingly you seem to be the first person who's done that.

As for difficulty, have you tried the game on hard with the battle speed turned up, or perhaps active mode? Most people have said it's fairly challenging if you adjust settings, but my goal wasn't really to make a super hard game. I also tried to make no grinding needed, but because of that if you do grind you'll level up really fast, yeah. I probably could have had monsters give less exp and had exp rewards from sidequests, but oh well hindsight is 20/20. A fair number of monsters do have status effects but I actually turned down the frequency with which they use them after testers reported it was really annoying having enemy groups spam status ailments on you. I might have lowered it a bit too much, sounds like.

Thanks for the feedback!
I've got pretty far yet, but I can't close the "Something to remember her" quest.
I'm sure to have been in each castle, I have even bought some juweled rings, but I can't finish the quest.
Which castle is abandon? Squeenix castle, undead castle, Aquaria castle, Server tower? Found it!

And I have some Spoilers for your FAQ site, i.e. the ultimate weapons and shield, the correct place where to find the moogle. How should I send them to you?
You can just post them on the FAQ page if you'd like and I'll get them in there. Thank you!
Hi Rydia, a lot of happy time playing specialy the ladys group relaxing at hot springs in jipang whahahahaha, but some things keep me frustrated, until now:
* I do not know what I miss in order to complet the Ashiee town, Eden keeps asking for people already recruited (the man alone, the midquote, Ashiee´s good friend). The man in Valkrum Resort only make the same jokes all the time (no way to recruit him) and the Misterious woman I did not find her yet.
The fortune teller say about the adventurers town must be completed (I suppose is Ashiees town).
Warrior Conqueror (Ashiee´s ultimate weepon (is it linked with the misterious woman? if so, what can I do to find her)
My party member are at level 93-94, I completed all the Hunters lodge quests
10 Magicites: Phoenix, carbuncle, leviathan, titan, garuda, alexander, odin, ifrit, shiva and diabolos. Helpppppp please
Ah, I think I can help with that Canim.

Do you have an innkeeper? If you do, that means you recruited the guy in Valkurm Resort already. Ashiee's good friend is Casiele, I think she was outside the hunter's lodge. Chances are, you didn't find the mysterious woman in Aquaria. She kind of just vanishes after you talk to her and then reappears in Aishee's town. And the Lonely Mithqote is in a little shop on the same island as Koen but the western edge of it.

If you can post the exact quote Eden says, I can tell you where they are. I didn't write them down so I don't remember the exact stuff.

Any idea who the 7 people to give letters to are btw? I can't find the last one...I gave out 6 of them so far.
Hmm, I think I will need to add a town guide and where to find the people for the air mail quest to the FAQ section. I will also need to look into changing Eden's dialogue so that she doesn't mention people you've gotten already.

@canim: ZarethKnyght's tips are good, but Casiale is found in Koen near the elder's house. I'll make up a full list and put it in the FAQ section shortly.

@ZarethKnyght: The people are Rachel, Ithilsul, Mcdohl, Sultan Nicholas, Ironbug, Jolteon, and Azran/Eden.
Oh! I didn't think two of them would be so close to each other.
Yep, just a little trick, haha.

The FAQ section has been updated with new information. Thanks for Firefly84 for some of the writeups!
Rydia / Zareth thankssssssssssss a lot
Ashiee town is finished, the missing person was Marinoki, just for curiosity I listened the man alone (Odion) until he finish the song and he gave a Tinfol Aegis, I do not know what it was because is not showed in the inventory, what was that?.
Now I am leveling more becasue the fight with Tanaka in the Rift as per Ramuh request. Whahahahaha. I will do it tomorrow after I came from work, now is time to go to bed. ;-) nite nite, not before I tell you I LOVE THIS GAMEEEEEEEE, and enjoyed it a lot.
I'm glad you were able to finish off the town! The shield is just a gag item, Ashiee can probably explain it better.

If you are level 93-94 you are WAY more than leveled enough to go for it! Thank you for the kind words! =)
Yeah, there should be an item that he gives... but if he doesn't oh well, because it's supposed to have negative stats and is totally useless anyway~ It's all based off this one time Odion was saying he was forever alone... and then out of nowhere started to sing that song from Little Mermaid over Skype. The Tinfoil Aegis was a reference to him tanking in FFXI. Odion is supposed to play this game at some point... so he's gonna get a kick out of it/tell me he hates me, but yeah that whole thing is an inside joke.
Where is the ring in the abandoned castle? I can't find it. Great game, by the way!

Edit: I found it like two minutes after I posted this.
