NHL 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs / Pool Prediction Thread

Wow…I can’t believe that Edmonton f**king shit-kicked Anaheim 7-1 tonight. Jesus…

Well – guess Cap_H still manages to live for another day! Hooray!!! *soft groan*

That means now that a Capitals loss tomorrow will then officially eliminate BOTH Ankylo and myself from contention, instead of just me. Because the funny thing is that if Anaheim had won tonight’s game then Ankylo would still have a chance regardless if the Capitals had lost to either win or tie for the overall lead - but now he can’t do that no more ‘cause the Ducks f**ked up tonight for him, lol. Oh well.

- Go Caps Go! Continue to defy the odds and make it to a Game 7 tomorrow! Otherwise, I'm gonna have to post this song up here tomorrow - and I REALLY don't wanna do that...!

No they won’t. Believe in the Rangers!

Anyways, before the Ducks and Oilers game is on:

Playoff Pool Update:

The Nashville Predators, for the first time in their history, have advanced to the Western Conference Finals today by taking care of the St. Louis Blues in 6 Games on home ice.

GreatRedSpirit & Hexatona both pick up 2 Points each for successfully predicting that the Predators would move on. Cap_H also managed to pick up a Bonus Point for predicting that the series would go to 6. Hexatona also receives 2 Additional Points for 4 Points Total for correctly predicting that not only would the Predators would win that series in 6 but that they would also move on, too.

GreatRedSpirit now has a one point lead over Cap_H for first place in the pool. Hexatona, with a four point performance today, is now currently tied with Ankylo for 4th place overall.

Now a Ducks victory tonight would then officially eliminate Cap_H from contention. But an Oilers win tonight would still keep his playoff pool hopes alive!

- The full bracket and standings have now been updated!

- Come onnnn, Edmonton...send it to a Game 7! Otherwise Ankylo is gonna pass me. :(

...Oh, and Cap_H will be out too, I guess.

Eh...no big loss. :P

For a kingdom made out of trash, this airship looks pretty sweet!

Okay, yeah, there are a few broken pieces here and there and all - but I wouldn’t mind riding in that! (...If I were a trashcan, of course.)

Statisticians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

This is the first time in a long time that I’ve been on the top posters of the month in seemingly what feels like forever... Now that we’ve gone to a top 25 format instead of a top 10, I might see my username up there more than usual – which is good, because I like seeing my username up there more often.

Other than that – still lazy!

Oops…apparently somebody CAN be eliminated tonight:

A Nashville win combined with an Anaheim win tonight would then officially eliminate Cap_H from contention. Even though that he would still get points from the Capitals possibly coming back to win in a possible Game 7, Ankylo and myself would then leapfrog over Cap_H in total points because of that, pushing him beyond reach of both of us for first.

So Cap_H, you better hope and pray that either the Blues extend their series to seven with the Predators or the Oilers manage to make it to a Game 7 instead - otherwise it’s curtains for you.

- Not today, you don’t! The Capitals managed to force a Game 6 today. Yes!!!

This is mostly good news for Ankylo, though, as a Ducks win tomorrow would then give him a one point lead over Cap_H and GreatRedSpirit, but if Nashville happens to win their series tomorrow too, then GreatRedSpirit would then take a one point lead over Ankylo AND Cap_H. If the Capitals do happen to lose on Monday in Game 6 with the Predators and Ducks both advancing on Sunday, then Ankylo would still “technically” have a chance to win the pool, depending on the results of the Senators and the Rangers series, of course.

Either way – nobody’s getting eliminated tomorrow…and that’s a good thing!

What are you thinking about right now?

Roden actually recently deleted his Twitter account (or hidden it) and has taken down all of his games on here too, including Songs From Aelsea. (His reviews and other stuff are still up, though.) I don’t know exactly what happened to him or why he took down his account and all, but it really is a shame.

And as for Ratty, I’m guessing he’s either taking a break from here, lurking around these days, or just has finally decided to call it quits and move on to something else...which also sucks, but it is his decision to do whatever he wants.

I don't remember the reason i joined this site. I don't like making rpg's at all. This is why i only got one game up in here, because i made it for the sole event that kind of opened the "if you don't make rpg's that's fine" opportunity for me.

Like, i know a few events we've had have also SORT OF given the green light to "not rpg" games but when you're the only one not making an rpg in a mostly rpg-focused crowd you stand out, and not in a good way.

So what? I don’t tend to make RPG’s on here either, and I don’t really care... If anything, making something that isn’t an RPG does give you a bit of an advantage here, as your game tends to stand out a bit more to a more diverse crowd and it shows that you, as a developer, are more than capable of making more than just one type of genre. I mean, for a lot of players and reviewers like myself, RPG’s can definitely take a lot more time to finish and complete compared to any other type of genre here, which makes something that isn’t an RPG a bit more desirable to play in most cases. For example, for certain review events with a limited time frame, I tend to like to stick to playing something that’s either a shorter RPG (about 5 to 8 hours or so) or something else that’s a bit more unique and more suited to my taste. And besides, RPG’s tend to take WAAAY longer to design and complete compared to something else like making a puzzle game or whatever, so it’s probably best to avoid making an RPG for some developers here because of how long that they take to make.

Either way, it’s good to have more developers like you around here, Mirak. It’s nice to see more than just RPG’s on a site like this. Hell, some of the best games that I’ve played and reviewed on here recently were NOT RPG’s, like April Was A Fool and Super Talking Time Bros. 2.5 - The Last Levels to name a few. So continue to uphold the good fight and make whatever you feel like making, regardless about what other people think or feel on here.

Ottawa’s wasn’t that bad of a team in the regular season. Hell, at one point, they even had a chance to overtake the Habs for the division title but fell out of it during the last couple of games. They may have trouble dealing with Montreal, but they’re not that bad against everybody else in the East.

And Calgary played pretty good down the stretch; they had even had a chance to overtake San Jose and Anaheim in the standings as well. A lot of us here participating in the pool actually believed that Calgary might have been able to beat Anaheim this year - but I guess not, lol.

And, yeah, I want Edmonton to win the series against Anaheim too. I have nothing against Anaheim personally, and it’s not because I don’t want Ankylo to pass me in points, or anything like that, but it would be nice to have at least one Canadian team in the final four this year.

And I’m guessing that you missed this because this wasn’t posted or mentioned on the front page like the other previous years were. Oh well, there's always next year for you.

Which one are you? Those who beleive in signs or miracles or those that beleive in luck?

Hey, if the last two NHL draft lotteries have taught me anything is that luck never seems to fall in our favor and miracles and signs are just a bunch of hooey anyway. We never get anything good here besides more rain…and higher housing prices and taxes, of course. *shrugs*

I can’t believe that Edmonton blew a three goal lead last night with three minutes or so left in the game and ended up eventually blowing it in double overtime. I mean, I know their defence was badly banged up in that game by the Ducks, but still.

And today could possibly spell doomsday for Ankylo and me, as a Washington loss would then officially eliminate both of us from contention.

(Yeahhh…I don’t really want that to happen just yet...)

So go Caps go! Don't f**k this up. I and Ankylo (probably) still believe in 'ya!
