ATEN'S PROFILE

I'm a hobbyist game maker. I like making games as both a hobby and a challenge. I'm currently trying to make a game using the Linear Motion Battle System similar to Tales of Eternia. If you are interested, check out my youtube of the progress! Located here:

I also dabble in programing software and I've made some nifty utilities but my best one so far is a Save Editor for Final Fantasy XII. Get it here:

A tale of adventure and exploration.

Why aren't there more tutorials on the basics?

Aten: Those are good, but not terribly accessible for people. You can't just pick out a random locker and find them. They'd need to get put into the site tutorial system.

Ok, I submitted them. TBH I forgot all about the tutorial/article submission thing.

Why aren't there more tutorials on the basics?

Infact, I have a series of tutorials, written by Gemin-eye for his RM2K Helpfile uploaded to my locker. Works for both RM2k and RM2K3

Switches Tutorial

Chest without a key

Locked Chest with a random item

Npcs and the Key plus Adding NPC to party

Fork Conditions and the Random Items in Chests

Rm2k3 Buff Issue

If anything, rm's gauge usually stops where it is and continues from there when needed. Maybe you can explain the whole scenario?

Read the helpfile. VIGOROUSLY. Don't even come out of your room until you know EVERYTHING the helpfile says.
is this a real life experience?

No. It's a figure of speech.

if I wanted to make a game similar to Final Fantasy VI, What version of RPG Maker should I download

Any of the rpgmakers will do the trick. Especially rm2k3.

what should I do?

Read the helpfile. VIGOROUSLY. Don't even come out of your room until you know EVERYTHING the helpfile says.

EVERYTHING.

Doing so will prevent you from coming back here asking for simple things like "how do make switch??!" and you'll probably turn out pretty good at rpgmaker.

EDIT:

Infact, I have a series of tutorials, written by Gemin-eye for his RM2K Helpfile that you can look at. Posted in order of difficulty.

Transferring files from old comp

Also if your new PC has a SATA only hard disk option, (the old one is obviously IDE) then you'd be stuck again. Try the Ubuntu option if you can, it's free to download from their site.

Of course it's probably only good if you know a bit of linux so..... xD

Transferring files from old comp

You could also get a CD version of something like Ubuntu (which runs like an entire OS except off of cd) and copy it to a flash drive that way.

Rm2k3- Keyinput problem

Yeah. I knew that would be the problem. Glad it helped you out.

Rm2k3- Keyinput problem

Nope, look again, this code is just for attacking. And since it's a PP event in a CE, the hero will continue moving even while attacking, (which probably won't look good, you need to stop the hero while the "slash" is in effect, but that's another story).

I'm not just running my mouth either, I made the entire ABS for Night of Marian for Nessiah, so I know what's up.

@Aten I did not know that, but I guess it makes sense. And I really couldn't care less who will be pleased or not. It's the internet mate, not real life.

Yeah it is, Buuuut seeing as how this forum doesn't have a "warn" system, I guess you're ok :D

Aznchipmunk is also right. Just check the wait until key pressed, and then you can take out the redundant "if var = 7" branch.
