ATEN'S PROFILE

I'm a hobbyist game maker. I like making games as both a hobby and a challenge. I'm currently trying to make a game using the Linear Motion Battle System similar to Tales of Eternia. If you are interested, check out my youtube of the progress! Located here:

I also dabble in programing software and I've made some nifty utilities but my best one so far is a Save Editor for Final Fantasy XII. Get it here:

It's supposed to look simple and clean :) (which I think it does)

Worst boss fights

I really like the big black border, also what kind of voice acting is this. Im sorry i am just appalled at this video than caring about what topic im posting in.

The whole game was appalling. And I usually LIKE Tales games!

Unity 3d

You can upload games no matter how you make it.

Of course haha, they fit very nicely :)

How is this achieved?

I'll document it and release it with the game.

I like the effect the zoom out gives. Feels much more realistic than just switching to a world map view. And the red circle mechanic is nice. Im just curious, in the second screen the dragon seems larger (even though the view is zoomed out.) Does the dragon sprite scale down as the map scales up? If not it could kinda ruin the effect. Nice work though.

Yeah, what zeph said. This mechanic is also used in DBZ Budokai 3, where Goku is still full size on the worldmap. It gives the feeling that you are higher.

Worst videogame character.

Oh god..

I was gonna bust you up for this, since she is not even annoying or anything. But after watching the ending, I AGREE.

bland as in mapping or bland as in not smooth or something. If its mapping, let me tell you, try making a worldmap like DQVIII and see if you don't run into issues :p

This is the one. The first screen is what happens when you enter an airship (dragon in this case) in the normal "vehicle" mode and the second screen is what happens after I run the mathematical equation I mentioned. You zoom out and see more and IMO it looks tons better.

Also, the shadow is in RED when you can't land in a certain spot, and BLACK when you can land in a certain spot. (Yet another DQVIII inspired idea).

Legend of Vanadia

Yeah, and the fact that the worldmap is DQVIII-ish big means you NEED this or you'll die of frustration trying to travel. This was inspired by DQVIII anyway because I noticed them using this technique and it sort of hit me with a "why hasn't anyone done this before o_o".

Screenie coming soon.

Legend of Vanadia

With some help on mathematical equations, I've made, quite possibly the first, ACTUAL "flying in airship" mode. Most games usually have the airship you get on, then you sort of move around faster, but its just a clever illusion since you're still the same hero on the same map only with a different sprite (airship) and a "pass through everything" flag.

But now, when you're on an airship, you're ON an airship, and high in the sky. The world is zoomed out and because of this you travel faster, see further etc. I'll probably put up some screenshots later to show it later.
