As long as you make it reasonable and not like getting Mia back at the end of *Hack//Quarantine, then I wouldn't mind getting a character that I've become attached to back.

nothing wrong with anime girls
I once felt that this would be reason enough to ridicule someone, then I saw the man who married a pillow with an anime girl on it. A pillow. Now, if you want to oogle at pictures of hand-drawn, lifeless girls in bikinis and other forms of undress, go right ahead. If you want to purchase a bedsheet with such a depiction on it, that's fine too.
You may be met with awkward gazes from your friends and family, even be directed to a well-known psychiatrist, but who are we to judge.

As long as you don't use real world racial slurs like mad, you should be fine. You could even use different races and come up with your own terms for it, like elves could be called *insert name here*.
